Greetings from s newbie, newly diagnosed with sleep apnea but now I realize I've had it for at least two decades. One of my symptoms has been memory loss. I am hoping that good deep sleep, night after night will help with short term memory.
Do any of your experienced cpap-users find that your r memory improved with time? If so, how long did it take for you to see a difference?
Thanks!
Vee

I definitely do see improvement in my short-term memory. How long it took (for me) isn't easily answered, though; my initial therapy (about two years' worth) was not adequate, thanks to a lousy sleep doc and a crappy machine. (I was better than before, when I didn't have treatment at all, but I sure wasn't "there" yet in terms of therapy.) Once I got rid of the sleep doc and acquired the right machine to treat my apnea, I would guess the memory started to improve after a few months of decent therapy. But we're all different. Some people experience an amazing difference in how they feel (overall) immediately, but they're certainly not in the majority. For most of us, it can take weeks or months to really feel a difference. But it *does* work, so hang in there.
IMO, attitude is everything. Being diligent in the beginning (i.e., using my machine faithfully, long before I found this forum) was the only thing that kept me going for those two years. Just tell yourself that this *will* work for you and do whatever you have to to make it happen.
Veni, vidi, Velcro. I came, I saw, I stuck around.
