Not feeling much better on CPAP

Post by sidesleeper7 » Mon Jul 13, 2015 12:21 pm

Hi guys, I have the resmed escape auto machine, I have been using it for a couple months and cant seem to get the right setting and am not waking up feeling refreshed and energized like I should... my ins denied me a sleep study which made me very pissed, so I am trying to figure out the correct pressure, it seems on apap the machine ranges from 12.8-13.4 and also my machine is dropping pressure, when I had it set on cpap pressure 12.8 the morning report shows the pressure was only 12.6, I don't know why this is happening. I am planning to get the resmed autoset ASAP because this machine only tells AHI which this morning reported at 0.5 but I still felt tired upon waking.

Thanks

0.5 is a very good AHI number. You could have leakage from your mask so you are not feeling as well as you should. There can be also other medical reasons as to why you don't feel refreshed or energetic.

I can't speak to the question of why the pressure is less. However, I CAN tell you that unfortunately better AHI does not always equal feeling rested and refreshed. I never got the rush of energy and restoredness that some people experience once their apnea is resolved. I have probably felt marginally better. One thing that I have noticed is that I went from needing almost daily naps to almost never napping. But that didn't mean that I felt amazingly wonderful when I woke up. Or significantly more energetic during the day.

As they say, "Your Mileage May Vary".

unfortunately, you'd need to take that machine back and get a better one, (like an autoset) to be able to have some data that might help figure out why you're not feeling well.
