Humidity Level

Post by Jackiep » Sat Jul 11, 2015 8:04 pm

Could someone please explain to me what Humidity Level means in Setup on my machine ( see profile). I know the Humidifier is set at 4 (done by turning the knob on the machine )...in reading about Humidity Level..it says it can be set for 1,2or3 . I see that mine was set by my provider at 1 . I guess I'm not understanding the difference between Humidifier and Humidity Level . Thanks.

Does your hose have a black coupling on the end of the hose that plugs into the top of the humidifier?

from the manual:
Heated Tube humidification - This setting will only display if you are using the heated tube. You can enable or
disable this feature.
SYSTEM ONE humidification - System One humidity control maintains a consistent mask humidity by
monitoring and adjusting for changes in room temperature and room humidity. You can enable or disable this
feature. If the System One humidity control has been disabled, the classic style of basic
Humidifier - This setting allows you to choose the desired humidity setting: 0, 1, 2, 3, 4 or 5. If the System One
humidity control has been disabled, the classic style of basic temperature controlled heated humidification will be
used and the display will show: 0, C1, C2, C3, C4 or C5 for these settings. This will only display if the humidifier is
attached. Please refer to the humidifier manual if using a humidifier.
Note: When not using Heated Tubing, the control wheel can also be used to change this setting.
IMPORTANT: The ideal humidifier setting depends on room temperature and humidity. Initially, a setting of 2 is
recommended. You can adjust this at any time.
Humidity level - This setting will only display if you are using the heated tube. This setting allows you to choose
the desired humidity setting for the humidifier: 1, 2 or 3. This setting can only be changed from the Setup screen.
Tube temperature - This setting will only display if you are using the heated tube. This setting allows you to
choose the desired temperature for the heated tube: 0, 1, 2, 3, 4 or 5. If you choose zero (0), this will turn off both
the humidifier and the heated tube.
Note: When using Heated Tubing, the control wheel can also be used to change this setting.

OK. The black coupling means you are using the heated hose.
With the heated hose attached the setting 1, 2, and 3 that you see in the clinical set up menu is for humidity delivered.
1 is 70 percent, 2 is 80 percent and 3 is 90 percent.
The settings 1 through 5 are for the air temperature in the hose. Setting of 1 is 4 degrees above bedroom temp. And setting of 5 is 14 or 16 (I forget which) above bedroom temp.
You can only change the moisture content ( humidity ) via the clinical setup menu but the air temp can be done in both the setup menu and on the fly with the knob on top of the blower.

It is a comfort setting though, you use what makes you comfortable. % is just a number.
