I have come to the possibility that I may not be able to succeed with CPAP therapy. Listen, I haven't slept good in decades. Cpap is only making it harder to sleep. It's not a coincidence and not something I can just adjust to. I didn't sleep a wink last night. 2 out of the 3 nights before thought I woke up after 2 hours because of the CPAP. I know my body better than anyone. I don't think I can do it. I want to do it, and may have no choice but to keep trying but being objective, I don't think I can succeed. I can't sleep. I haven't been able to sleep in years. There's nothing I can do. There's no herbal remedy, no meditation, no exercise, no yoga, no special food, there's just nothing I can thing of. And CPAP only makes it harder for me to sleep. You don't just train yourself to get used to it. This could take 10 years and still not improve.

So I'm just gonna wear the mask the rest of my life? This just doesn't make any sense. And to all the haters that told me I would struggle even more once I actually started using CPAP, congratulations for being right.

Enchanter,

You're going to just give up after so many people on this forum went way beyond the call of duty to help you out? I am shaking my head big time. It takes at least 6 months to a year before you can make a final determination that you need to move on from pap therapy assuming everything has been optimized.

I am too tired and exhausted to argue with you. If you're totally convinced you can't make pap therapy work, then you need to look at dental devices or surgery. Having untreated apnea will destroy your health.

I hope you will reconsider your decision.

To all concerned - I have just (in response to PMs) told Enchanter to get a referral to a sleep specialist from the GP he'll be seeing in a few days for titration results because his insomnia of long standing is a separate issue from Cpap. His response was expected, not at all responsive to what I suggested, and was over-the-top a dramatic and foolish statement about his situation, so I said I could no longer participate in this endless story.

49er, I may have no choice but to keep on trying. But I'm saying realistically I don't know if I can do it. There's too many issues with me. I know that. I can't help myself enough. And I don't know how. I can keep trying though.

But what about the dental devices and what kind of surgery? I read that dental devices are only if you have a low BMI

To all concerned (esp. if you're new to this story) I strongly suggest you don't begin going down the road now with Enchanter re surgery and devices and who knows what else... not unless you have strongly masochistic tendencies.

If only you knew how hard it was. I never wished to have any of this.

We've ALL been through the OSA/Cpap experience, many of us much older than you with lots worse other conditions on top of it!

Grow up for heaven's sake!

Then continue with the pap therapy and give it a minimum of 6 months from the time you are set up by your local DME's office since we don't know if you are receiving optimal pap therapy or not currently. Don't think of doing anything else for now.

Forget about the dental devices and surgery and don't ask any more questions about it since it was my mistake. Forget I even made the suggestion.

Veni, vidi, Velcro. I came, I saw, I stuck around.

Dx 11/07: AHI 107, central apnea, Cheyne Stokes respiration, moderate-severe O2 desats. (Simple OSA would be too easy. ;))

PR S1 ASV 950, DreamWear mask, F&P 150 humidifier, O2 @ 2L.

Just have a heart. Not everyone had the same kind of headaches as me or has insomnia as bad as me.

Enchanter,

To be honest, I fear I am about to say something I might regret as I am very angry with your posts in doing the "poor me" routine. You have no clue what members have been through on this list and to act like you are worse off than anyone else is extremely insulting.

It is bad enough you want to quit your therapy but then to pull this routine is beyond comprehension.

I'm not saying others haven't also went through hard times. I'm just saying we should all have compassion. I have compassion for everyone too.

The issue is you are going to stay with your pap therapy and preserver through hardships, right?

Yes, it's what I do. Everything always has to be hard and I'll try. I wish it wasn't hard.

But like u said, if nothing happens after 6 months, something has to be done.

Not sure which doctor nixed the sleeping pill for your test but maybe you need those to sleep. Might need to ask another doctor. And how about medical marijuana? Would that work?
Morbius, are you bored?
