Getting set up with my CPAP machine
Re: Getting set up with my CPAP machine
Alright! So I hooked it up and here is what happened. I hear a noise and I put the mask on and air starts blowing into my mouth, it actually felt good. But after a few beeps, it just turned off. Also, air is getting out because there is a lot of room in between the mask and face.

Re: Getting set up with my CPAP machine
Ok, apart from other stuff, first get the mask on properly, with all straps hooked up, but the mask not in any way digging into your face at all. All lying down - your face changes a lot then vs upright. Second, only turn it on when the mask is in place - don't try to hook up the mask once the air's blowing! And if there's that much room between the mask and you, either something was not adjusted properly, or the mask isn't for you (there are very many out there and it would be unusual for the first one to work). Why it turned off when it did someone else will have to answer... has happened to me, but the machine's different and I don't remember what the problem was anyhow.

Well the mask is extremely sharp when I put it on my face. But yea it does turn off, beep a few times, and then turn off.

suggest you check the manual, or if you don't have one for the mask, google one up.

Re: Getting set up with my CPAP machine
I sent him an Innomed hybrid mask. He is confused about the air coming in both his nose and mouth. He wasn't expecting that.
Morbius, are you bored?
Re: Getting set up with my CPAP machine
well, man, that's why I said to look in the manual, so you'd know how to put the various pieces of the mask, shown in your posted picture, together. because, based on your comments, you clearly haven't done that.Enchanter wrote:Look man this isn't easy.

Re: Getting set up with my CPAP machine
Can you check to see if I have it on auto start from the mask? It would shut off soon after the mask is removed or possibly far enough from your face. That's how I have my current machine.

Re: Getting set up with my CPAP machine
Sounds to me like two things:Enchanter wrote:Well the mask is extremely sharp when I put it on my face. But yea it does turn off, beep a few times, and then turn off.
You have a Hybrid mask, yes? That's the mask I've been using for about four years now. If it feels "sharp" against your face, you likely don't even have the silicone part of the mask seal fitted into the hard shell of the mask. If you have the manual for the mask, READ IT. If you have the fitting video for it, even better. WATCH IT AND PAY ATTENTION TO IT. If you can't even assemble the mask, you're not getting anywhere. How long have you had the machine and mask now, almost a week?
Second, if your machine is beeping and then shutting off, it's likely because it detects a large leak. That's probably because your mask isn't assembled correctly. It sounds like you're trying to wear just the hard shell without the soft silicone part that goes over the mouth and the pillows fit into and so much air is escaping from it that the machine senses a large leak. The machine might be set to Auto Off, and it's doing what it's supposed to do. You can change that setting later (if you're ABLE to, that is - meaning you, yourself, because the setting is definitely changeable) if you ever get that far. I'm wondering if someone else has to wipe your ass for you...

This is as nice as I'm likely to get with this forum member, because I'm seriously SMH over this guy... All the coddling from other members doesn't appear to be doing any good. (I'm ready to wield a 2x4, although that's never been my style.)

If you don't have something helpful to say to Enchanter, go to another thread!
I understand people not having patience to help him... fine... go to another thread!
The last thing he needs is to get more anxious than he already is.
PS Bleeping Beauty... worry about wiping your own ass, that must be difficult enough!

STFU, ems. I notice you're in the lead on the "foes" poll. Wonder why...ems wrote:If you don't have something helpful to say to Enchanter, go to another thread!

If you get off your high horse and READ my post, you'll see that I DID say helpful things about his mask and his machine. You want to buy all this "high anxiety" he's spouting? Be my guest. I don't. Get over yourself.
And your "insult" is just sad. At least come at me with something clever (if you can come up with something you thought of all by yourself).
