old article... January 28, 2013

a 2year old comment on that article:
If I can sum up your argument it is this 1) Homeopathy is already a hugh industry employed in many developed and developing countries and is even covered by some of these countries' government funded health care programs. 2) There is much anecdotal information that it truly does help. 3) It could and would stand the test of scientific investigation although that hasn't happen yet.

Points 1 and 2 are hardly convincing and point 3 amounts to no more than a fervent hope. All I can say is wake me when the scientific tests have been completed - no less that the rigorous double blind three phase testing mandated for approved pharmaceuticals. Until then I will accept only that Homeopathy has demonstrated a marked placebo effect.

What's wrong with the article is stated in it's title - "Homeopathy offers hope"

It just didn't go far enough to say that hope is ALL it offers, but people keep paying and paying and paying...

Little or no science mentioned in the article. "The Cuban Ministry of Health" as a scientific source? Give me a break. "Hey, Fidel, we don't have money for real medicine, but we can give them this cheap magic water."

It talks about how much it's being used as if that's proof of it working. There are lots of vaccine deniers out there. That doesn't mean they're right.

Some stupid governments are covering homeopathy because they have a lot of stupid voters who want it. Doesn't mean it works. Look at how many governments bough phony "explosives detectors" that were just a divining rod gadget. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ADE_651

What if they were quoted as stating the vaccines work? Would you still blow them off because of who they were? By the way, please don't misunderstand as I am not claiming that homepathy works but my point is the evidence should be evaluated on the science and not based on who is making the claims.

Fair point. Interestingly, that same type of claim has been used by psychiatry to claim that antidepressants work since so many people use them. So "mainstream" folks are capable of playing the same games.
Some stupid governments are covering homeopathy because they have a lot of stupid voters who want it. Doesn't mean it works.

On a similar note, I believe that is why some hospitals and doctor's offices started offering alternative medicine. They didn't really believe it worked but were simply looking at the almighty dollar.

Strictly FYI (not in response to anything else) Cuba supposedly has a pretty good health care system...

Thanks Julie, that is what I thought but since I couldn't find anything to support my point of view, I held off mentioning that. Thanks for posting this.

OMG, I have never seen a cat picture like that. For folks who wonder what the heck we are talking about, I posted this link, http://www.catoftheday.com in the cat thread and the cat of the day for today is what Julie is referring to. I definitely agree with her description.

Julie.
I'd spay and declaw a black cat and keep it indoors at all times. Here in California I've had three black cats killed and they all met with very painful bad deaths at the hands of superstitious ignorant people. BTW, I've had a dozen non-black cats and never had a single problem with people killing/hurting them. I won't go into gory detail, Julie, but PM me if you need further elaboration.

I like my ResMed AirFit F10 FFM - reasonably low leaks for my ASV therapy. I'm currently using a PR S1 AutoSV 960P Advanced. I also keep a ResMed S9 Adapt as backup. I use a heated Hibernite hose. Still rockin' with Win 7 by using GWX to stop Win 10.

Our cats are not allowed out when little monsters are in possession of fireworks.
