We use Tidy Cat clumping with the grey lid, that has Glade in it and never have an odor. We have four cats, two are just a year old and the other two are thirteen and fourteen. They show no interest in the cpap machine or the hose. The younger cats have been good for the older ones cause they are playing with the young ones.

I was using Feline Pine but have switched to The World's Best Cat Litter. My cats were not fussy but I noticed the Feline Pine seemed to be hard on their paws. I think it's pretty good odor and clumping wise but since I keep the boxes on the screened in porch odor is not an issue. Two cats. They have been completely uninterested in the machine, masks, or tubing - kind of a surprise.

Go to tidycat.com and check current reviews! I would have given 5 stars a few months ago but the latest reviews are just like mine, not clumping and no odor control. Something has changed. I used to use this at the cemetery to hold silk flowers in hanging pots on stands. Set flowers in a pot of litter and pour in water. Turned to a brick and held flowers in the strongest winds! Of course Nestle/Tidy Cat says they haven't changed anything other than adding new scents.squid13 wrote:We use Tidy Cat clumping with the grey lid, that has Glade in it and never have an odor. Clump & Seal is our current brand of choice. I also like that it could be the name of a band from the 70's.
Nothing we've ever used has killed the odor enough for my satisfaction until Amazon sent me this air purifier to review. It's not cheap and I didn't have to spend my own money on it but I absolutely would have if I'd known it was this effective. I've spent hundreds on various cat box contraptions over the years. They were all more trouble than they were worth.
I have no idea if other air purifiers are as effective but I will say this one is small and quiet. Here is the review I wrote.

Re: Really OT Cats
My husband has come up with a mix of Feline Pine and one of the various corncob based litters (whichever one is in stock when we need it). This is fine for the cats, softer, and doesn't seem to result in as much tracking.tuzacat wrote:I was using Feline Pine but have switched to The World's Best Cat Litter. None of the three cats bother the machine, mask or hose at night. One sleeps on my side or next to my chest (or on it if I'm on my back), one somewhere around the middle of my legs, and one at my feet after she gets done trying to steal my husband from me. I can tell that I'm having a bad night if I wake up and there are no cats, because I must have thrashed and squirmed (or maybe PLM'd) them off.
We hang the hose over a door, bring the mask downstairs and cover the machine with a box during the day, just in case someone gets bored...

So far have not had that problem with clumping, if it happens then I'll look at something else to replace it.postitnote wrote:Go to tidycat.com and check current reviews! We used Everclean Extra Strength Unscented. Clumped great *smile*, no noticeable odor if you don't wait too long to clean it. Our dearly departed 21-year old cat used a litter box for the last 2 or 3 years, and this litter worked very well for us. Now we have only a dog, and the whole backyard is his litter box *smile*.

Feline Pine is recommended for ferrets, because those silly little critters ingest the clay,
and it then causes fatal intestinal blockages.

Re: Really OT Cats
I've used Fresh Step for years, but I don't like their multi-cat formula, can't exactly remember why right this moment. I had a cat that was super picky about changing litters and would start going other places but sadly, he's gone now For those of you struggling with excessive dust, the trick that works for me is to hold the "mouth" of the box very close the the surface of the existing cat litter when pouring more in. Dramatically reduces the dust.
I had tried a couple of different litters at the beginning and fresh step seemed to keep the room most odor free. I do scoop every other day (used to be every day when I had 2 cats) and use the "litter locker" system.

Re: Really OT Cats
I decided rather than do a complete dump of the fresh litter box of Tidy Cat I would just use a kid's sand shovel to get the dark unclumped litter out and then add a 14# box of one of the new litters. I grabbed the Clump and Seal coz it was closest to me. Mixed the litters really well. This morning I had nice snowball clumps of pee in the box! Yea!!! I have one of those oversized boxes that a Great Dane could probably use. Gotta love the stuff they sell at the farm stores!Dylan wrote:Clump & Seal is our current brand of choice. Re: Really OT Cats
For the person who asked about cats destroying equipment, I have to use a hose cover because my cats have thought the hose was a new toy for them. I was afraid they would no longer come near me once I started CPAP, but it was never a problem, other than their ability to punch holes in the hose.

Re: Really OT Cats
This is unreal. Just got my mail and Tidy Cats sent me the following coupons. I'm debating about trying the lightweight litter. I just can't understand why they sent coupons for free product when I made it clear their litter stinks (and doesn't clump).
