I want to mention that i had a long term dry cough that started in June of 2013. It went a coupe weeks, stopped for a few weeks, then went for 8 weeks before stopping for awhile. A few weeks again in September, and then the end of October. The doctor had no idea what was causing it. First, I was on cough syrup with codeine (still coughing, even with that, but it was reduced). Then I was taking a cough pill. The doctor had no idea. finally, I realized that each round of coughing started with a weekend trip out of town, and only the trips using one particular vehicle. One that had a chemical spill in it that was not fully cleaned up (it went under the passenger seat). We removed the seat, cleaned fully, and the coughing stopped. That was 2 years ago. I have only had a couple incidents with coughing since then, and they were all preceded by something I was allergic to, but did not not have the normal asthma reaction to. Apparently, I can have asthma cough without having the normal asthma attacks.
