For all we know, they live in an apartment! All we know for sure is that the OP is looking for an inexpensive alternative.postitnote wrote:I'm waiting to hear what Sheila has to say re what their power worries are. A $60 battery would be fine if the weather is okay but not when it's freezing and you also have no heat. She indicated multiple nights. Seems silly to me to only be concerned with cpap when you have nothing else on either. I'll cook on the gas grill in the winter but i'm not camping out by the fire pit in a sleeping bag to keep warmCapnLoki wrote:I can't think of anything sillier than running a genset all night to cover a 10 watt load when a $60 battery will do it.
And yes, if the power goes out for more than a night in the winter I'll be hooking up my small genset to keep the pipes from freezing. But when I got a cpap I setup a battery as a short term backup so I don't have to go into the garage and haul out the genset in the middle of a thunderstorm. I probably couldn't find the key to open the garage without power in the middle of the night! Running a genset to power a cpap is like using a sledge hammer as a fly swatter!
