Re: Apnea surgery
Some of the reading in the links suggests there is a correlation between aerophagia and taking gerd meds. I'm curious, is my recent taking of gerd meds linked to my recent problems with higher pressure. I had epap at 18.6 for almost 2 months. Then I started taking nexium about a month ago

Re: Apnea surgery
I agree but having less crap in there may help with pressure needs. if this ent is as good as everyone else thinks he is then maybe I'll get really great resultszoocrewphoto wrote:Greg Riddle wrote:I did some reading and the clinical definition is 50% reduction. Even if it was just 50% I could at least lower the pressure to a more tolerable levelmsla wrote:http://umm.edu/health/medical/reports/a ... leep-apnea You may find some useful info in this link.
As I remember the surgical definition of UPPP success is a reduction of AHI by 50%.

Thanks for the links
Keep in mind that number of events has no relationship to pressure needed to prevent events. Reducing the number of events may not reduce your pressure needs. Some people have a much harder time with cpap after surgery.

Re: Apnea surgery
Greg, the reason I asked is that I have a heital hernia in my stomach and have to take meds for GERD. If I don't take my meds and sleep on my side I get pains too. It may be not the case for you, I was just asking and if lowering or raising your psi doesn't get results, it may be worth checking out...good luck.Greg Riddle wrote:noknothead wrote:Just curious, have you been checked for a heital hernia or ulcer?

Re: Apnea surgery
I don't have a hernia. The only recent event is taking of gerd meds. I stopped taking them. Maybe in a few weeks I'll stop have problems

Re: Apnea surgery
I've now lost 22 lbs in 2 months. My flow limitations are very low. And snoring is low. I've lowered pressure to 13 epap and 5 ps. My AHI is at about 2. Fls and snoring are still low. I'm still having some issues with aerophagia. Not as often a before. Maybe twice a week I wake up in pain. Most times just a lot of gas. I hope I can figure this out. At least my pressure requirements have dropped
