It was determined that I will be better off with a BiPAP machine and nose pillows. I think I got that right. I guess there pressure got too high on the CPAP and I couldn't handle it.
The tech said my Dr. Has requested a rush for my results so hopefully I can get everything soon. I have an HMO and they are sometimes slow, I'm hoping the rush will help. I'm tired of being tired. Hope long does it normally take to get your machine after testing? If it matters with the first test, my Dr. Sent them to a pulmonary MD, I'm guessing she will this time too.
Thanks for your help!!

It really varies as it will depend on the DME (equipment provider), and also your insurance company. I had my followup with my sleep doctor on a thursday and gave them the name of the DME I wanted. I received a call Friday afternoon from the DME that they would be contacting my insurance for pre-approval. They called back a could hours later with approval and set up my appointment for Monday morning. Had it not been a weekend, I probably could have had my machine only a couple days after my doctor appointment.
But I have seen stories from others who had to wait for weeks. Hopefully, yours will go fast. After having a great night of sleep with my titration, I was really anxious and excited to get my machine. Even brought it home and took a nap just so that I could try it out.

Who would have thought it would be this challenging to sleep and breathe at the same time?

Kerri, I'm not surprised that you ended up being prescribed a bilevel machine. You might find this article (posted in another section of our forum) interesting and relevant to your situation: our-collective-cpap-wisdom/flow-limitat ... BiPAP.html .
Common insurance practice is to require patients to first try and fail a period of time with cpap before they will cover a bilevel machine, so in that respect you're lucky that you don't have to deal with that nonsense.
I think the article above may help calm some of your fears (expressed in your other thread) that PAP therapy will not help you.
Keep us posted about how you're doing. LIke zoocrew said, the wait time varies tremendously from one doctor's office/insurance/DME to another. It can help to keep calling the involved parties to check on the status of the order.

Thank you so much for that link, very informative. Right now I feeling that I'm getting the proper treatment and I will feel better soon. It's a shame I was blown off for so long.
