PR System One 760 and Sleepyhead/Encore

Post by HairyReasoner » Thu May 07, 2015 7:30 pm

My doctor has prescribed a bipap for me because he doesn't think my cpap is working as well as I need. My medical equipment provider is recommending the Phillips System One 760ST bipap. I want to get either the Encore Viewer or Sleepyhead software. My understanding is that Phillips has "upgraded" the Encore Viewer to something called SleepMapper. From my investigation, it appears SleepMapper is but a shadow of Encore, with only very basic functionality.

Does anyone know if the bipap recommended for me will work with the latest version of Encore Viewer (if I can get a copy since it's been discontinued)? Does anyone know if it will work with the Sleepyhead software? Also, does anyone have any experience with the System One 760ST or know enough about it to give me input on how good of a machine it is?

I own a PR S1 BiPap Auto model 760. It will work just fine with SleepyHead.
I don't know which version of Encore Viewer you are talking about but the old version is not compatible with the 60 series machines.
The most recent version is compatible though.

I don't know who told you it has been discontinued because that's news to me unless they were referring to the version that this version replaced.

I don't have a source for Viewer but I could help with either Encore Pro or Encore Basic...send me a private message if interested.

The Respironics 760 is an excellent machine.
Both SleepyHead and Encore Basic or Encore Pro will work just fine.
I have a Respironics 960 and use both SleepyHead and Encore Pro.
As a test, I installed and did some testing with Encore Basic - all was good.
To get either, post with subject line: Need software for Respironics 760

You are right reguarding the Sleepmapper and Sleepyhead is much more detailed. You can learn how to download from this site. https://sleep.tnet.com/resources/sleepyhead
I also have a 760 and use both Sleepyhead, which I like, and Encore in case my doctor wants to see something he is familar with.

The respiratory therapist at my medical equipment supplier told me a Phillips Respironics rep said the Encore viewer had been discontinued and replaced by SleepMapper. She told me Encore viewer is no longer available (although the pro version used by the clinicians is of course still produced).

The link to cpap.com says viewer is compatible with the 60 series except the "PR System One 60 Series BiPAP St C-Series." My new one will be the PR System One 760 ST bipap (apparently a 60 series Bipap ST, but I don't know about the C-series). I'm trying to figure out if that is the same thing as the exception cpap.com says is not supported.

Thanks for the offer on help procuring Encore Pro or Basic. I've wondered if I could get the pro version without being a clinician. I imagine it's quite a bit more than the $100 charged for the viewer, but given the severity of my sleep apnea I might be willing to get it. I'm still deciding what to do (which machine and software). I may take you up on that offer.

Sleepyhead is free, does everything you need and more, and works with your proposed new machine.

End.

I'm not aware of an "ST" version of the DS760, but there is a DS760 "TS" package which includes the DS6T heated tube humidifier (has electrical connection for the heated tube as well as the heated tube itself). Buying the machine and the humidifier together as the TS is considerably less expensive than buying them individually.

From what I've researched, the DS760 is the best of the automatic bilevel machines. It can auto-adjust the Pressure Relief, which means the EPAP and IPAP pressures can vary independently.

the bipap S/T is model number 1160, I believe yours is the 760ts, with the letters being nothing but ordering codes, the only thing that matters is the number. most likely someone reversed the letters.
