Data Card on discontinued model

Post by SamTAnders » Tue Apr 21, 2015 10:17 pm

I have a Respironics REMstar Auto M Series A-flex model purchased at least 5 years ago, maybe longer. I just found out I need to retrieve data from this for a compliance report but I seem to be missing my data card. Is it possible to get the data anyway?

There's minimal information on the machine's LCD screen but I don't know if it will be what you might need and there's no way to print it off.

You can still buy the Smart Cards but you also need a special card reader to get the information from the smart card to the software on the computer.

Do you still have access to a DME who could run the software and get you a report so that you wouldn't have to buy the card reader?

Who is it that is needing the compliance report?

You can go here and get the manual for the machine and in the manual it will explain how to get to the data on the machine.

Sorry I dont know the jargen for this. I drive trucks. My CPAP doesnt have a LCD screen. It has a spot for a data card, mine just doesnt have it. So no screen. What's a DME? I have a doctor that did sleep study on me to begin with. Can he get the info from the machine without the card?

The Remstar M series Auto CPAP does indeed have a LCD screen but you have to lift up a little lid to get to it.
Go get the manual for it and read it.
I know it does because I have owned 2 M series APAP machines personally.

How far back do they want the compliance report to go?

The doctor that gave you the machine might be able to use a smart card and card reader and pull the usage data from the machine that way...if he has a smart card and the card reader.

I don' t know if the serial cable connection thing would work or not. I can't even find one for the M Series. Most of us used the smart card and the DT3500 Infineer card reader to get reports.

You would need Encore software...and I can help with that. Just send me a private message. At least it's free.

My sleep doctor's office had the readers available for my old machine. And the machine does retain compliance data for a long time, so they may be able to get it by putting a new card in and then pulling it back out after the machine has finished writing to it. Unfortunately, the readers are not easy to find and expensive - about $80. Your sleep doctor's office should be able to help you with this. Your DME/equipment provider might also be able and willing to do it - you'll have to ask to find out.

Then, may I suggest you start learning the "jargon".

ALL models of Respironics machines going back (at least) to the beginning of this century had "LCD" (Liquid Crystal Display) screens of some kind.
The M Series machines were the first to offer some visible data in those screens. But, a "smart card" is needed to be able to store the data (as did the previous generation or so).

This is the card that goes in the slot:

https://www.cpap.com/productpage/respir ... -card.html

And, this is the card reader to download the data into software to see the reports.

https://www.cpap.com/productpage/Respir ... r-USB.html

And, this is the software that downloads the data and puts it into a readable report format.

"DME" is short for "Durable Medical Equipment"......the store where this equipment is sold/distributed or also slang for the employees of that store.
