Back On The Machine

So I am three weeks in on this my second go round on CPAP.

As is noted I get what look like CA's from SH and ResMed software, no argument there at all with me.

I also get a few Hypopneas's, which I would like to try to eliminate with tweaking the pressure a little, however, as I am on a loner machine I am obliged not to play with the clinical settings..

So I am thinking of buying an Autoset ASAP, my insurance will pay 80%, so I can at least try to get the Hypopnea's down...there is nothing I can do to remedy the CA's, I have a titration study coming in 3 or 4 months, nothing I can do to speed that up, as I have written before the sleep docs I have seen just don't think I have CA's, or if they do, they are hoping they will go away in time.

The last time I was on CPAP I lasted 10 weeks, I am feeling that if I can get some control over the machine this time I can make it to the titration study...

So should I buy the machine??

lol...I did that for one night, but you see thy keep tabs on my data for two months...and will merely change the pressure back to what ever they say I should be at...

I guess I will buy the machine....get it over with....

if you have a LOT of centrals, then an autoset isn't the right machine for you.

does the machine have a modem? if not, they can't change it remotely.

yes it has a modem, they check every day...

last night I had: 76 CA's, 11Hyp, 2 OA's...according to the machine...

tired today, no kidding, lol...

Really considering getting an AVAP...so tired of feeling this bad..

I was checking a Canadian supplier for the Resmed...this looks like it would work, yes??

wow, hard to believe anybody is looking at that, and not going "well, THAT ain't working".

my fear is that you'll buy an autoset, and find that it takes care of the 11 hypos and 2oa's, and you'll still have the 76 CAs.

the sleep doc won't look at data at all, the tech sees there is something, got me to do an Oximeter overnight last Tuesday, was sending it and a report to the doc...
but the longer I wait the more I see I have to take care of myself...

if they're not looking at data, then why not change it every night... or take the modem off and tell 'em "I don't know, it's just not getting signal"



if you do have a strong central component, you'll likely need a bilevel machine, either a ST, or ivaps, or asv.

If you are looking at the ASV type of machine I would suggest the Adapt as it will do a better job with the OA and hyponeas and still deal with the centrals than the ST might do.
I think that the ST is mainly for people who have primarily central sleep apnea and not complex sleep apnea.
And since you don't have centrals until cpap pressure is used...that means complex sleep apnea due to cpap pressure.

Ahhh, thanks for that, I am looking at SecondWind, have to be careful, it is quite confusing for this sleepy man...
Have asked them if they ship to Canada, I am sure they do, I am just don't trust Canada Customs...lol
