Newb Question about air in stomach

Post by jamzdean » Tue Jun 27, 2006 7:04 pm

K sorry I just started using a CPAP. My doctor increased the pressure to 9.5 and since then, I have had my stomach fill with air when I use it. Could the pressure be too high, or is it the way I sleep?

I was on a Resmed S8 and started having the same problem. I called the doc and he moved me over to Respironics Bipap Auto Biflex and have not had any additional problems.

Aerophagia (swallowing air) is not at all uncommon, especially as your pressure goes up. The aerophagia indicates that you may not be able to exhale against the pressure of the CPAP.

I'd give your doctor's office a call ASAP. Often, doctors will switch you to a BiPap or APAP machine.

I only have this issue when I sleep on my side..... I can't explain that...but it's true

Luckily i'm pretty content with sleeping on my back....so you might try to narrow it down to a particular sleep position..
