I am a small woman with a petite face and the small size was too small. The non existent medium would have been perfect and why Respironics never made one is beyond me.

Have you tried the Large or Extra Large? We had a woman who posted saying she had a small petite face, and was most comfortable with the XL. I think the small is really for children. I missed Pugsy's post, she always is more on target than I. I only parroted what someone else said. sorry, I did not intend to intentional mislead''

UPDATE

Finally got the mask in a week ago- found a DME that would order it under my insurance- cost me $23 with my insurance paying $200!
Could have saved the insurance company $100 ordering it online but they don't allow that- could have had it in days online but it took the DME 3 weeks to get it

Had a few nights getting used to it and learning exactly where to place it on my face- have it worked out now and am getting the best Sleepyhead numbers I've ever had!
Main issue is I need to stay on my back all night, start my usual rolling onto my side and it moves and leaks.
Only complaint is there needs to be a baffle at the input port- before I go to sleep I can feel the air blowing directly at my nose as it comes in- mildly annoying but not too bad. A simple baffle of some sort would fix it and I may see what I can make myself since Philips didn't address it.
Will be a little aggravating traveling with it as it is necessarily huge but that can't be avoided.

All my morning dry mouth issues have disappeared, no red raw pimpled nose bridge, no occasional nare irritation. A winner in my book!

Insurance companies use a negotiated price structure for things, which dramatically reduces what they really pay. Although sometimes they get hooked for more because they do not have a favorable negotiated price for an item, which is maybe why the DME warehouse made you wait weeks for mask. One can be pretty sure that the insurance company did not pay more than what you would have paid online. I know that for prescriptions, with only one exception, I pay more for my prescriptions with my monthly premium and co pay than what they would cost if I simply bought them through the Wal Mart generic plan, (and the are all generic.) The one exception is insulin. I do not feel much sorry for insurance companies. They have experts looking at numbers to their benefit.

If you look for creative ways to use the Anti_Leak strap made by Padacheek (never obstruct outgoing airflow from the barrel), then likely you can sleep on your side rather than your back. (I am only a satisfied customer). Actually I have one thing in the way I sleep, I do not thrash around.

As you know, back sleeping is the worst position for sleep apnea, and all mask manufacturers say, for nearly all masks, not made to sleep on one's side. Which they know for many of us is not possible. We can not get sleep on our back. If you can, then great.

Every morning I get up, after I shower, while the water is still on my face, I smear skin oil on my face. While coconut oil is great, and inexpensive, I look for oils which have vitamins in them.. Our local wound center, who treat a lot of diabetic ulcers, always use skin oil with vitamins in them.

I cheat when I use the mask, and slip the bottom of the mask down below my chin. which restricts it from moving right and left. If you figure out how to use the mask better, then let the rest of us know.

The three great things about improving my sleep:
1. Using a Sleep Apnea machine.
2. Using a mask which is better for me.
3. Using a bi level machine.

Lastly this would be a good time to push ideas about how to improve this mask to PR, as it may be they are considering an upgrade to a newer model.
