Res Med Airsense 10 - was not given the "for her"

Hi, I went to the Sleep Center and the Supply house rep gave me the Res Med Airsense auto, but not the "for her" unit. Should I be concerned and ask him why? Did not even know the lady's unit was an option.

It has a second apap mode option especially designed for women or actually anyone with a similar respiratory needs.
So a nice feature to have available but it may or may not even be useful to you .

For Her Algorithm

One of the most innovative features of the AirSense™ 10 AutoSet for Her is the algorithm developed for women and the manner in which OSA affects them. A standard algorithm responds after 3 flow limited breaths and will move up by as much as 3 cmwp. The For Her algorithm responds after just 1 flow limited breath and will move up by as much as 2.5 cmwp. If needed the algorithm setting can be changed to the standard AutoSetAutoSet™ algorithm version.

If that is what you or your doctor ordered, you should NOT have left with the wrong one!

I took the black A10 (the ForHer is white) because the white model was on back order, and it was already 5 months between the screening which showed me with a 79% desat and getting my machine and I didn't want to wait any longer. I regret getting stuck with the black A10, because my main problem is frequent arousals, and the ForHer is better at treating those.

I think that the existence of the A10 without the ForHer software is just STUPID! It's the same hardware inside, having two versions of the software added an entire QA cycle for ResMed, so it cost them more money than if they had put the tri-modal software on all of the hardware, and they don't make any extra revenue! I have this hope that they will offer a software upgrade at some point in the future.

My doctor said the supply house would give me the unit - she did not say which one I should get. I think I will call them tomorrow and ask. I really don't understand the technical aspects of these units. I basically just started and had no problems adjusting with it last night (which was my first night). Thank you everyone for your feedback, it is really appreciated. I hope to get more educated and eventually try the sleepyhead software, but at this point, I really don't understand it.
