buttons don't work

Post by rondog99 » Wed Feb 04, 2015 12:53 am

I could not afford a new machine so I got a used ResMed S8. When I plug it in it says ramping , then CPAP. And that's it. None of the I buttons do anything. On/off does not work. I hold the right side button and down button for minutes and nothing. Anything that can be done.

It sounds like it may be broken. Have you tried looking for a machine on craigslist? You can test them before buying to make sure they work.

Who would have thought it would be this challenging to sleep and breathe at the same time?

I bought this on Craigslist. Seemed to work when I got but I did not know what it was supposed to do.

It sounds like one of the buttons is stuck down ... so it goes into the ramp when you plug it in.
try cleaning around the ramp button and work it down and up vigorously, to see if you can free it up.
If you're not part of the solution you're just scumming up the bottom of the beaker!

Seems like those machines were notorious for the on/off button breaking.
Someone posted instructions here on the forum for how they fixed it. I will see if I can find them.
Otherwise if it works when you get it started and can get into the clinical set up menu to turn Smart Start on...the machine will then start when it senses your breathing and it will turn itself off when it no longer senses your breathing so you won't have to use the on/off button.....but you have to turn Smart Start on first and if you can't get into the clinical set up menu...you can't do that...and it sounds like that won't even work for you now.
