I hear you...frustrating when we want nice clear cut black and white answers and instead get answers with a lot of ifs and maybes in them.

If your pulse rate increased...can you pinpoint if it increased before or after that flat line?
How long did it stay increased and just how much was the increase?
Then you get the "pulse rates can change for any number of reasons" fuzzy gray response. Even a bad dream can increase the pulse rate.

I can tell you that the pulse spike is what triggered me to wake up and after a few seconds, take my mask off. I didn't have my oximeter on, but it was over 100 BPM for sure, and subsided within 10 seconds of me waking up.

I could tell while i was trying to drift off to sleep last night that my body was feeling a little goofy. I had a few instances where I noticed my respiration slowing too much as I was transitioning to sleep, and my body wasn't happy with the amount of oxygen I was getting through my nose. Felt like i had to breath harder. This usually means I have a worse night despite my awesome numbers last night.

Do you ever have episodes of unexplained tachycardia during the day?

Of course wouldn't it be Murphy's law that this would happen to you when you don't have the pulse ox on to see exactly what happened.
If this is something that happens to you very often then maybe more investigation is needed. If this was a fluke random thing....sometimes we just chalk it up to my aliens and move on because that's where we get into the "no clear cut explanation thing".
We simply can't always see deeply into the software results we gather from the machine to gives us clear cut answers because there are so many maybes involved.
