The chart reports breaths per minute.

What do you mean by "hits 50"? If you see a line on the graph go straight to 50 and straight back down a few times per night, then it is an artifact (basically an error in reporting).

My respiratory rates runs from 10 to 15 with some jumps up high due to artifact (as high as 50) or maybe I moved in bed and took a couple of quick breaths and it registers around 25 or 30.

If you are seeing 50 per minute for any length of time, you would be a very sick person and you would know that you are sick. So this must be an artifact.

Thanks in advance.
Normal if they are around 10 seconds or so. I often get 8 to 10 per night. Maybe I move in bed and reflexively hold my breath.

How are you doing otherwise?

Also if you have auto-start and you have it turned on, every session start has a zero respiration rate for the first data point, and "blows out" as the last data point if you rely on auto-stop. (I use auto-start to start, but when I stop I hold my breath while simultaneously hitting the power button and unhooking the hose from the mask which manually overrides the stop. Among other things, it avoids the data artifact.)

I'm having a mooch around the boards today, downloading my Sleepyhead data etc and trying to understand it. A couple of questions;

- Respiration rate. Mine hits 50 every night. Is that 50 breaths a minute? I don't think I could breathe that quickly when awake! What could it indicate?

- Clear Airway events - should this be 0, or is it normal to have a few CA events every night?

Thanks in advance.
You may have already figured this out, but it is likely a bug and probably in the units software. See https://sourceforge.net/p/sleepyhead/bugs/170/

expand your flow rate in the area and you should understand better.
