Trouble with insurance

Post by Johnml13 » Mon Jan 12, 2015 2:59 pm

Well, I currently have a Resmed S-8 and the heated humidifier stopped working. When I called my DME provider they told me my insurance says I'm not eligible for a new machine for 3 more years. I find that odd since I already had this machine for 3-4 years. Luckily I had a older Resmed auto set II (wish I could attach a picture because I. Not sure what.exactly the machine is) Does this sound right? My insurance is Humana which used to be HMO, but has since changed to a "consumer driven health plan" which means I have to pay 80%. Question: is there somewhere to get refurbished machines? I'd like a new one, but I need a auto PAP and heated humidifier and these cost a lot more. I have to use a FFM and found through much trial that the quatro FX is by far the best for the way I sleep. Any ideas would be much appreciated. Thanks-

call your insurance, not the dme.

and, yes, you can get GREAT machines, for MUCH LESS than the DME would shaft you, from secondwindcpap.com.

or if you have a rx, from cpap.com.

If you're not part of the solution you're just scumming up the bottom of the beaker!

Get the Clinicians manual here : http://apneaboard.com/adjust-cpap-press ... tup-manual

5 year replacement policy typically with Humana. Your humidifier can go in for an estimate for repair.

Check your local Craigslist too. You might be able to find a good deal. You could also call or email some DMEs and see if they have a replacement humidifier for your machine, some of them have access to used or refurbished humidifiers for older machines, until you can find a new CPAP machine at a good price. Your medical insurance might help by paying a portion of a repair or replacement for the humidifier.
