I used my CMS-50F last night with an OTC MAD set to 5mm and a chin strap to keep it in place and this is the report. It was uncomfortable so I set the alarm to only test for 3 hours, which should be enough for a REM cycle. My AHI in the lab 3 years ago when I was ~20lbs lighter was 50. I don't plan on using this long term, I just wanted to see if it would work. What's your impression?
I still need a good baseline. I slept for an hour w/o the MAD and it looked similar. I had desats down to ~90% on my sleep study 3 years ago but mostly my OSA doesn't show desats. Can I trust the pulse data here? How does it calculate an event based on pulse alone? Are there any other home devices I could purchased which would give me a more detailed report (measure breathing, EEG, etc)?
What do you make of this oximetry report?

sure, why not?balor123 wrote: Can I trust the pulse data here? How does it calculate an event based on pulse alone?
the paremeters for what it counts as an event are set in the software, so you'd have to look at it's settings to see what it's flagging for.

Re: What do you make of this oximetry report?
Are you using your Cpap and monitoring the data? Or trying to go without the Cpap and just monitor SaPo2?

I wish mine looked that good and I'm using supplemental O2 with my apap! I'd gladly trade my stats for yours.
Like PR said above you can check the settings for the software to see the default event settings for both O2 and pulse, and you can also set those event flags for whatever parameters you want, they are customizable.

Re: What do you make of this oximetry report?
Unless you have changed the default settings on the software, here are the settings.
SpO2 Parameters
Drop for event - 4%
Min Event Duration -- 10 sec.
Desaturation Criteria -- 88%
Pulse Rate Parameters
Rate Change for event -– 6 bpm
Min Event Duration -- 8 sec.
So an event for a drop in the SpO2 reading must be at least 4% and last at least 10 seconds, and so forth.
Edit: BTW your report looks remarkably like mine and my sleep doc thinks it is just fine.

Re: What do you make of this oximetry report?
It looks relatively good only because of my relatively young age (34). My last sleep doc said they don't really see desats until you're older. How accurate is the pulse data? It doesn't look great even when I'm using CPAP. Then again, neither did my RDIs on my last sleep study at Stanford. About the only measurable benefit that can be seen is in the breathing I think. Is there an OTC breath sensor I can get? I can't breath through my nose (yet) so I'd need something around my chest.
Re: What do you make of this oximetry report?
there are accuracy specs published by contec, the devices, though inexpensive, are surprisingly accurate, many people here have worn them while using the high dollar doctor/dme provided oximeters on another hand/finger and found them to show consistent readings.balor123 wrote: How accurate is the pulse data?
