auto CPAP VS non auto

Post by newtothis » Tue Jan 06, 2015 7:52 pm

I just got my CPAP. It is not an auto machine. I stupidly assumed my doc would have written a script for one. I did not know there was an option besides auto. So now what? should I call the doc and take the machine back for an auto? or are non auto ones ok? I feel like a sucker

See if your machine is full data or not, and how long you've had it.
Where you are could also be important--some places give you no choice.

Which specific model? All Auto machines have data-capabilities......SOME non-Auto machines have data-capabilities......which means SOME non-Auto machines are non-data-capable......we call them "bricks".

Which one do you have?
If you just got it and haven't used it, you may be able to return/replace it with one that is either Auto or fully data-capable (if they gave you a "brick").

Edit: The one Auto machine that has "limited" data-capabilities is the ResMed Escape Auto. You don't want that one either.

Then you need to go to your dr. and ask for a new script for an auto

That one is a "brick".......no data. You need to try to make them take it back and replace it with a "Pro" (model 460) or "Auto" (model 560). If your insurance is paying for this, they pay by an insurance code.......ALL CPAPs are E0601, regardless whether they're bricks or high-end machines.

this has honestly been the longest and most frustrating experience I have ever had...its taken probably 5 months to get to this step (picking machine up) and I feel like I am back at square one..

Depends on the doctor, but yes, it's pretty common.
It's going to cost you more than $50 for the agony you're going to have by not knowing how your therapy is working.

you should register your user name and list the equipment you have and join the fun here,
We are a very friendly group
What is the number on the bottom 460 ?

You can probably call and get the office staff to start the ball rolling

Did the doctor actually give you a copy/original of the prescription? If not, you NEED to get one before all this is over with.

Your situation is NOT new. We've seen it for years and consequently try to get people educated as soon as possible.
Basically, what it amounts to is that the DME values their profits above your therapy. They're scumbags!!! (and liars)
