CPAP Battery Pack & Medicare

Post by RedZin » Sun Jan 04, 2015 9:08 pm

I tried searching for an answer to my question but could not find any.

I'm new to Medicare and recently had my CPAP replaced with a new machine after getting a new Doctor & doing a sleep study in the lab. That went very smooth with Medicare (primary insurance).

I'm going on vacation to Mexico and just learned that our "hotel" (beach cabanas) does not offer electricity but 3hrs in the evening, 5-8pm. I've done some research over the weekend and found what I need. But my question is: WILL MEDICARE PAY FOR A CPAP BATTERY PACK?

Much Thanks.

well, let's hope not.

I'm all for my taxes paying for taking care of people who need it. but, they already bought you the medically necessary part of it, your choosing to use it while on beach vacationing, euhhhh...

I doubt your terms Battery Pack and Medicare can be combined in one sentence.
They are totally unrelated.

My guess: Medicare says, "HECK NO!" (reason--Not medically necessary)
Now if you have a power outage at home, just try to get them to put you up at a motel.

Regardless of whether or not Medicare would pay for it (I think not), 3 hours per day of electricity will probably not be sufficient to charge the battery pack in order to get a full night out of it. Assuming you go in with a full charge, you'll be able to use it for a full night or two (depending on the pack, your machine, and your settings), at which point you'll be stuck trying to use it on a partial charge for however many hours a night you can squeeze out of it.

a solar charging bank would be the best bet, and there's plenty of threads here on that subject for the OP to look at, if he hasn't run crying after being told NO! bad greedy person!
