Have COPD, with alittle Asthma thrown in for good measure. Everything for me is lessened or better using APAP. Lots of people have more problems than me. My main issue is I just can't breathe. Fulltime oxygen helps a lot. Hope you all find your fix.
Cheers,

Looks like this posting has not had any discussion for several years. I was searching for the same type of info. I have had a very minor case of asthma for several years and never had to use an inhaler. Basically my asthma lowers my blood oxygen and I do need a concentrator at altitudes. I started using a CPAP almost 3 months ago and am thinking it may be the culprit for my my new asthma symptoms. I have a lot of congestion and generate phlegm several times a day. My voice is congested and when I talk it sounds like gravel in my throat. I have been using an inhaler many times a day as well as taking mucenix a couple times a day. My oxygen has dropped as well and I use a concentrator almost non stop all day. I can’t help but think the CPAP has caused this to happen. Anybody??

If nobody has posted something similar in seven years, that it's a rarer than rare issue.
If you haven't discussed you extremely worsening asthma with your doctor, do it now. Discuss the use of an oxygen concentrator at night as well.

Three quick comments concerning your new breathing issues:
Make sure you use a hypoallergenic filter in you CPAP machine.
CPAP machines have humidifiers - the amount of humidity affects peoples' congestion, and is very personal. The effect of humidity is mentioned in the tread.
Make sure the pressurized air isn't leaking out of your mouth when you sleep.
You may have to use a full face mask - pressurized air rushing out through your mouth can cause your gravelly voice etc.

I'll repeat:
If you haven't discussed you extreme worsening with your doctor, do it now. Discuss the use of an oxygen concentrator at night as well. Yes, oxygen can be bled into the pressurized air coming from you CPAP.

If you want to know more about your own CPAP therapy, you are worthy of your own thread. Please read the following:
