Resmed S8 Vantage EPR auto v. Remstar Auto cpap
Hello, I have never had a cpap or apap and I'm a newbie. I have to get a setup soon and have been waiting around for the Respironics M-series auto and today found out from them that the end of July is hoped for as a release date. I can't wait that long. So, I'm looking at the choices. Is there any consenus out there between the Remstar auto v. the Resmed S8 Vantage. I'm paying for this baby out of pocket so I only can get one. (I'm not an extreme presure case, if that helps but I am a light sleeper.)

There are two other threads on page 1 of the message board with this same question and many replies. I'd suggest you take a look at those.
I vote Respironics Remstar auto with cflex over Resmed S8 Vantage. I like the option of exhalation relief in auto mode and I like the Respironics software better.
Also, keep in mind Resmed plans on forcing internet providers to raise their rates by 40%. That's pretty hard to swallow. There's not a reason good enough to justify buying anything from them as far as I can tell.

Remstar vs. Resmed
Personally, I am very happy with my Remstar. I think it is well worth the money, and agree with the other guest that Resmed is not going to be a better-quality enough machine to warrant paying all that much more for its products.
The Remstar is highly adjustable to my breathing routine, and is quiet. I had very little trouble adjusting to the machine. About my only problem is that I am rather hot natured, so I have to keep my bedroom pretty cool in order not to feel claustrophobic, but that is a quirk with me that I am sure most people don't face (no pun intended!).
When you buy, get a machine that has a guarantee, and you can return it if you find it isn't what you can work with. Best advice is to start with a positive attitude that this is going to help, and do all you can to adjust right away. Then you will know very soon if you have made the right choice in machines. GOOD LUCK !! !

respironics, you need it, you want it, go get it.
jeez, why do we have like twenty threads going on the same subject? just get the remstar and be happy.

Get Blown!
Who knew people were so brand happy and wanted so badly for everyone to use the same machine they do? I see this with all aspects of life. I don't really care if anyone uses the machine I use. And I am glad to know each machine uses a slightly different algorithom that might treat different people better than the others, perhaps even for different times and events.
But no, it would appear some people want to treat their CPAP company as if they're a politician or something similar. Or perhaps it's more like the sports team mentality. Ie. Our team vs their team.
I guess on the bright side, people are all proud of their machines. And that means their therapy is working. And they just want other people to feel the same way. And perhaps some are trying to save you some money. But I do sense more than that beneath it all.

no kidding, yeah sure it's a team mentality, i'll go with what works, and makes me feel better in the morning, i tried my remstar auto with c-flex disabled and it sucked, so i know i don't need to try a resmed auto since it cannot be used in auto mode with the epr, so why argue? i'll stick with what works for me. you may be happy without any pressure relief on exhale but i'm not, so i'll stay with respironics.

Which question am I asking? Through all my research, I've found that no machine is better than another unless it works better for YOU. If someone has only tried one thing it's hard to compare to other things. All my research has pointed that there is no one machine or mask that works for every person. I'm very well aware that the majority here like Respironics. It's a great product. I plan on getting a Remstar and a PB ultimately. Just to compare. Why not? One might work better for ME than the other.Goofproof wrote:If you don't like the answer, stop asking the question. a soon to be dual REMstar user. Jim
Would I speak highly of what works for me? Yes. I would. I would tell you what didn't work for me too and why. In your question above, Why would I not like the answer? I've never once said Remstar's aren't great products. But I feel the same way about the other top 2 brands. And I suspect others will continue to compete but like anything people get used to the brands that stick around.
