no mention of whether there's any 'special' cpap treatment for uars though.

In the blog, Dr. Park touched the borders of "you are slim, you can't have OSA". He should be more careful with the wording.
"It's not the number of breaths we take, it's the number of moments that take our breath away."

Cuando cuentes cuentos, cuenta cuántas cuentos cuentas.

Thanks PR, it is much appreciated. Obviously, there aren't any easy answers but at least it is nice to see a doctor talking about it.

Thanks very much for sharing this, PR.

I was just diagnosed with UARS and started on CPAP on 12/9. I realize that I have suffered for years with this condition and it wasn't until I found this forum and was led in the right direction that I suggested UARS to my doctor and was then sent to a sleep doctor who prescribed an APAP.

I wasn't sure how well it was working until I went to a movie last night in one of those theaters with the big reclining seats. I did not fall asleep . I realize now that I haven't gone to a movie at night for years because I would miss the second half.

Thanks again to everyone for all of the great advice I've received.

Happy, Healthy and RESTFUL New Year to All!

Or as Dr. K puts it:
Idiosyncratic insurance coverage positions may lead some sleep physicians to discount “low AHI/high RDI” disorders, because they are not a covered diagnosis.

Very interesting to be the UARS sufferers are often thin, but much of the same stress hormone process in OSA tends to contribute to obesity.

Hopefully with more attention given to it, UARS reimbursement will improve. As far as CPAP coverage, I've found more insurance companies with a little bit of evidence and a lot of nagging will cover far more than they initially say.

I have a friend that was convinced she had sleep apnea, but had a negative sleep study. She is tired all the time and takes provigil now. Makes me wonder if she has UARS.
