Just so you know - opera singers have posted here with cpap issue.

Having been involved in opera productions and having a daughter who studied classical voice, I don't know of anyone who does more voice exercises then opera singers - daily for hours.

I have not been on the board for a few months, after my disaster at trying to use a CPAP machine and
a terrible overnight sleep study, I surrendered to using singing exercises to see if I could make any impression
on my apnea/snoring issues. And I have to say, that while I still snore if I sleep on my back, all of my apnea symptoms have gone.
I saw a second sleep doctor in November and he confirmed for me that I had indeed improved. I go back to see him in March 2015.

I am working at losing 25lbs and getting in better shape, and am still doing the singing exercises.

I know I did not have really serious apnea, but I would say anyone who has mild/medium apnea could benefit from these exercises. It takes
a true willingness to do them everyday for the first three months, and is worth a try, in my opinion, maybe it can help in some cases.

Anyway, just wanted to share my success story with you. I am truly grateful for the help I got on this board, it made the CPAP and sleep
doctor experiences manageable.

Thanks again and all the best in the new year...

Stephen
There is NO WAY your doctor would know that unless you had an overnight sleep study. You can't tell that by looking at a person.

Maybe it was the massive amount of De-Nile, and Doctor that has no idea about sleep apnea. In some cultures the prefurred treatment is Witch Doctors and voodoo. Jim

Stephen R,

I am happy for you. However, I would heed the advice to get a sleep study to make sure your apnea is gone for sure as I definitely agree with LSAT that a doctor can't determine that by looking at you.

Snoring while sleeping on your back IS A SYMPTOM OF SLEEP APNEA. So it sounds like not all of your symptoms have gone away.

Good things to do whether you have sleep apnea or not.

Stephen
What tests did he undertake to confirm your "improvement"?

From his point of view you improved - you started giving him money every six months instead of the first doctor.

We did not tell Stephen what he wanted to hear, like the doctor who disagreed with him.
In time, he will learn, but it may be for naught.

Why do threads like this always turn so negative? I totally understand cautioning Stephen to get a sleep study and pointing out the flaws in what his doctor said.

But to turn this into an issue of someone's character regarding denial seems awfully mean spirited to me. Why not just say something like most people need a machine but if you're one of those rare folks who found an alternative method, congratulations.

Sadly, I got a bit of a laff out of some of the replies at the expense of the OP, but I side with you 49er, this same statement was just handled much differently on another forum. Yes, as a newb I do read a few other forums in my attempt to learn all I can re my treatment.

To the OP. keep singing but do take another test for your own satisfaction and health.

In case you haven't noticed, this is the internet. If you don't like it, just read original posts and never any replies.
