Best oximeter for Sleepyhead

Post by englandsf » Fri Nov 14, 2014 9:18 am

Is anyone using the most recent Mac version of SH (v0.9.8-1) and a "fingertip" oximeter? What models work and work best?

How do you use the oximeter? - I am thinking about a "check up" every month or so to see what happens to my O2 level overnight.

I too am curious about this. I have one of the regular ones, which wasn't cheap to begin with. But it would be nice to feed some oxygen info. into the whole thing. I too use the latest version for Mac.

The CMS 50F works well enough on the Window's platform. I bought the Bluetooth version but you don't really need it for overnight use. There are not a lot of recording units out there for a reasonable price.

I wish the finger cuff on the CMS 50F were a little larger or was adjustable. I have to wear it on my pinkie and it is still really tight. It is also kind of wide.

Sleepyhead oximetery support is not without its issues. For a while, sleepyhead would import the data directly from my unit via USB, but would complain about it. There is no Bluetooth support. Then it stopped working with the USB cable but it will still import the oximetry data from a saved file.

The biggest issue is syncing the data. The internal clock on my PAP is 23 minutes fast and cannot be set. Sleepyhead gives the option of 'starting the sessions at the same time' which works well enough. I put on the pulse oximeter, get to the record menu, put on my mask, connect the hose, breathe and when the PAP starts I hit the button on the CMS50F to start recording. I wish sleepyhead gave me the option of adjusting the alignment of the pulse ox data after it was imported. I also wish that it would remember where I keep my .spo2 files. But the basic support is there and it is quite useful.

I sleep with the pulse oximeter nightly, but I am a data geek. I may stop after a month or so once things are settled in.

I'm interested in the CMS50i - anyone bought one from China on ebay? Was it an OK transaction and how long did delivery take?

SH 098-1 works with both F models, and should sync the clock on the newer one. try using the clock offset in SH to get your data to show up at the right time, and then use the accurate clock setting on the 50f.

make sure you have the required usbserial drivers installed.
