Well finally, after calling them "Apria" repeatively over the past couple days, I was told that my machine will be ready to pickup at their office tomorrow at 2pm.
I was told the machine is a Synchrony (bipap) and that they only had an older model in stock. If I wanted a newer model, it would take about 2 weeks to get one. I plan on making a lot of noise on this because what have they been doing the past 2 weeks since they got my order? Why didn't they order the new model then.
However, at this point I will take anything that works as I have yet to get any treatment for what appears to be a pretty severe OAS problem.
I was told that I would be fitted for a mask there and that was about all.
I'm not sure what model it is, or what difference if any there would be in a newer model.
Pick up my machine tomorrow

There are no other options unless I want to pay 100% of the cost.
Insurance company only authorizes Apria for DME equipment period.

They may authorize Apria, as does my insurance, but they can be delt with if you are stubborn and hold your ground.
You want a current model machine and make sure it is what the doctor ordered and you are happy with .
You lose all bargining power when you take some downlevel piece of crap that they hand you and walk out the door.
Apria told me 2 times that they wouldn't give me an auto but low and behold on the third try they agreed that I could have it.

Stand your ground
Wasn't there a post recently about an Apria representative that would help make sure that you would be treated right in receiving your correct equipment.
If we do not stand up for what is right, they may treat others with the same attitude. You deserve to be treated well, if you are not, your doctor and your insurance company should both know about it.
As with any business, the customer must be treated fairly, or the business will lose customers. When they lose enough customers because of poor service, they will wake up and change their methods.
If we just accept the poor service it only perpetuates it.
I would go higher and see what can be remedied.
You should not have to be forced to accept equipment just because they want to unload it.
I wish you the best treatment and a smooth transition to becoming a regular hose head.
Take care and stand tall.
