Headgear irritation on back of head
I sleep most of the night on my back and my mask's headgear has started to irritate the scalp on the back of my head. Has anyone else encountered a similar problem while wearing their headgear and sleeping on their back and if so what kind of an OTC ointment did you use to apply to any irritated areas on the back of your head? I have 2 small areas on the back of my head that have suddenly become irritated. What kind of OTC cream or ointment should I buy to apply to the areas on the back of my head which have become irritated by my mask's headgear? Something like Neosporin; Bacitracin; etc?

I had the same problem. I ordered the strap covers from pada cheek ... no more problem.

You might consider protecting your skin with a buff or skull cap.

The above suggestions help, I use them, I also mix Listerene into my shampoo, at about a 25% rate. I put the mixture on rub it in and let it set for about 5 minutes, then finish washing my hair.

Steve, I also sleep on my back all night and early on in therapy I had some bad scalp irritation from the back strap. My doctor called it contact dermatitis from the strap and prescribed a steroid cream in lotion form to use on my scalp. It took a while but finally did clear up. While all this was going on I ordered a Padacheek cover for the back strap and tried it, but the cover added bulk to the strap and created more pressure on the tender irritated area. I ended up buying some thin, soft cotton fabric and slipping it between the strap and my scalp -- no bulk and it eliminated any contact between the affected area and the strap.Stevoreno_55 wrote:I sleep most of the night on my back and my mask's headgear has started to irritate the scalp on the back of my head. Unless you have reason to believe that the irritated areas are also infected I don't think Neosporin or an antibacterial would be the best choice.

What aggravated this situation was since I sleep most of the time on my back the back of my head would sweat at times; not all the time. Years ago when this problem occurred I would use Seabreeze for sensitive skin but using that at times was as bad as if I had decided to use Listerine which I never would; Listerine was some strong stuff.
