Disappointment with DME

Post by Sclark08 » Fri Oct 17, 2014 7:16 am

So I go to my DME yesterday to pick up a new cushion for my mask. I sign the form and she hands me the bag. When I get home I discover the bag is opened the clip is missing and there are two machine filters the kind of which I have never seen in the open bag with the cushion. I was surprised to say the least. In the past their service had been ecells to.
Why would they give out cushions that go on you mouth basically in an unsealed bag with parts missing and stuff in there.
I go back today to exchange and she brings back another cushion. This time the bag is opened on the ends and stapled in the middle. The girl tells me this is how they come now . Art there not standards on this stuff. In the past the bag was always completely sealed

When in doubt, wash it out. My DME has a huge stockpile of mask parts in his office to assist in fittings (and that he's skimmed out of fill kits) and my cushions come in small Ziploc bags, so I wash every mask/cushion I get.

They don't come that way.
They come sealed from the manufacturers or in the case with the P10...a box that is taped closed and it's easy to see if the seal has been broken.
Your DME is opening bags to pirate parts when someone comes in needing just a little part.
Take from one bag when in a pinch for some little single piece and then when they give you that bag...maybe they check it for missing parts and maybe they don't. I guess they didn't in your case check the opened bag for missing parts.

Being stapled is not the way it comes from the mask makers.

My DME won't sell an opened bag. They tell me they can't. I have got some free masks that way..."we were in a bind and had to take the Large nasal pillow from it for someone...we can't sell it but it's brand new...do you want it?"
You bettcha I want it.

I want your DME!!!

Truly tho, I don't have an issue with my DME parting out the kits, it helped me a ton when my cat gnawed holes in my P10 short hose after my first week of therapy! I mentioned it in passing at my compliance check and he tossed me a new hose.

I wouldn't have an issue either but I would check to make sure a pirated item was replaced so that I got the entire contents of what it was originally supposed to be in the package. The missing Large nasal pillow...I didn't ask for because it was free package and insurance wasn't paying..and I didn't even use a Medium in that mask much less a large.

Just as long as they were honest with me.....and "they come this way" isn't honest IMHO ...it's a big fat lie and I don't understand lying when most people would be okay with the truth if DMEs would just be up front and honest with people.

In my 6 years on CPAP I have never had any item come in an opened/resealed bag...(Even when I was with Apria).

Truly. This is the first time I have heard of anyone being disappointed with any DME.

Apparently you never read the "I hate Apria!" or the "I hate Lincare" or "I hate my DME" threads. They've been prevalent on this forum for 10 years. Doesn't take much "searching" to find them.

But......I LOVE MY DME.........CPAP.COM.

Edit: Now you have. This long thread is fairly recent (this year).

My DME packs my pillows and filters in snack size zipper bags, but I don't mind.
He sells a new mask with all MY size pillows, and my new AS10 came with
the DW-safe tank and Climateline Air hose at no extra charge, per my request.
