Looking for an auto cpap used

Post by Briancoco » Tue Oct 14, 2014 9:28 am

I am new here and have been spinning my wheels so here I am . I'm sure I have sleep apnea because I have almost all the symptoms but I don't want to spend the money on a sleep study and I know you can't walk in a store and buy one either . A doctor won't white a script for you because he won't know what pressure you are with out a study so it all boils down to doctors making money .so if I have this right I can buy a machine privately but would need an automatic or self adjusting machine ? So if I'm on the ball so far where can I find one ? So far no web sites will sell with out a script and craigslist so far has not had an auto model for sale with in 100 miles of me.very tiered and frustrated any ideas all?

Check your private message box please.

I would suggest that you zero in on either Respironics APAP or ResMed APAP machines.

Respironics...the PR System One 60 series Auto CPAP model 560...it has optional heated hose like the ResMed Climateline heated hose option.

ResMed...the S9 AutoSet or the very latest AirSense 10 AutoSet but they are hard to find on the secondary market because they are so new (been on the market now only a couple of months).
The S9 Autoset would do what you need to do though and a good job doing it. Unless you just have a thing for the "latest and greatest" and spending more money for it...the S9 Autoset will do a great job for you.
The ClimateLine heated hose is and option and I suggest people get it if they can.. It can come in handy.

I am delighted to report that I am receiving great service from Secondwind CPAP. http://www.secondwindcpap.com/

Not only did Mark understand my problem and my findings, he then not only offered to replace my unit by overnight UPS, he also offered to upgrade my 950 for the newer upgraded 960 (with the reported improvement correcting the flaw).

In this cynical age of low quality customer service, I am VERY impressed by Mark’s genuine concern that I get a good machine. He says that he will be contacting Philips about these problems.

I have the highest praise for Secondwind CPAP and highly recommend them.

I would warn my thread is also a warning about buying used machines...without a company and person like Mark to make sure you get a good used or open box machine, it can make all the difference in your health, safety and success with your treatment.

To see why please read this:

If you need a prescription, dentists are authorized,
and rarely have the incentive to help sleep labs rake in your dough.

They (Secondwind) can take a prescription from ANY Doctor and ask and they can help you with the correct forms for your Doctor to fill out.

I DO think you should have a sleep study done..there are different kinds of sleep apnea, I for one have Complex Sleep Apnea which means I get WORST with a normal CPAP machine and HAD to get a ASV machine, and then I learned on my own I have Positional Apnea which means I get very bad when I get flat onto my back.

I got a sleep study and then got what I needed and dropped the Doctor when he would not allow me to be a part of what adjustments I needed...as I had no insurance I was not willing to pay a fool $125.00 each visit to get him to allow me to make changes he then said I could...

If not for this site and a couple of others I could have not done as well.
