Cpap pillow

Post by Chelle25 » Mon Oct 13, 2014 12:47 pm

I see they make special pillows for those of us that use a full face mask. I have developed like a pinched nerve in my neck from sleeping awkwardly on my pillow with the mask. I woke up with it one morning and it's been 5 days, can hardley turn my neck to the left without intense pain.

My question is.... Has anyone bought and tried those special pillows for sleeping with cpap? If so can you recommend a good one?

Often been discussed....you can used the search function for the forum ...cpap pillow or bed pillow and see what comes up...tons of reading material.
The end result is yes..people use all sorts of bed pillows...the fancy cut out pillows...regular memory foam pillows...buckwheat hull pillows...water based pillows...and on and on and the end result is what works for one person just great doesn't always work for the next person. It's highly individualize because we all have different preferences and we all come in various sizes and shapes. I am small..not quite 5 ft and have small bone structure...small shoulders. I use a buckwheat hull pillow as it fits me because I can adjust the hulls to suit my needs. Plus it helps my old arthritic neck to stay in a nice straight line with no kinks in it.
I need a lower profile pillow but others need a higher profile pillow.

If the cpap pillows with the cut outs look interesting to you then I suggest a trip to WalMart and get one of their cheap memory foam pillows and cut out the foam to make your own to see how you like it. That way you don't have to spend the big bucks without having an idea if that style suits you or not.

If you think you might like the buckwheat pillow...
See the thread Den linked to and maybe this one

I got my first one from SleepGuy 5 years ago and just earlier this summer got the new version to try.

Here's a link to some search criteria I just did on a few different names of bed pillows.
The problem with searching on "bed pillows" is that you get every discussion on "beds" and nasal mask pillows.

search.php?keywords=buckwheat+AND+chiro ... bed+pillow

As for your current neck pain, I have used Thermacare neck wraps for awesome relief.
Spendy, but well worth it for me.
The heat helps break the pain/tension cycle that results in such misery.
