Selection AHI of 85

Post by rebe » Sat Oct 11, 2014 10:33 am

I woke up feeling fine. But when I checked the screen, it appeared that for a period of some 2 minutes I hardly did breath. Yet the pressure stayed put.
Was wondering how long does it take for the pressure to respond.
I will be away from the computer and won't be able to answer questions.
Hope that this scan can show what I mean. Thanks

Obviously, you (and lots of other people) don't know how APAPs work.
APAP machines don't directly increase pressure when they detect apneas. (without preceding events, they're called "frank" apneas)
They increase pressures based on their detection of Flow Limitations and/or Snores.

This is from the ResMed site:

http://www.resmed.com/int/clinicians/co ... nc=dealers

How does a ResMed AutoSet device respond to apnea?

Typically prevents apneas, by treating flow limitation and snore. These usually act as early signals for more severe apneic events
In the event of a sudden apnea that occurs without any preceding flow limitation or snore, AutoSet Spirit increases the pressure after the apnea has ceased to prevent further apneic events
Pressure response is based on the duration of the apnea
If no further events occur, AutoSet Spirit gently decreases the pressure, towards the minimum set pressure

Additionally, the machine does not respond if Ramp is selected and the min pressure is yet to be reached.

How long did it take you to go to sleep?
That cluster happened 9 minutes after you turned the machine on. If there is a possibility you were awake or semi awake at that time then maybe the S9 was confused.
The old Sleep/Wake/Junk thing.
