when will cpap start working!!!!

Post by kolsen0767 » Mon Oct 06, 2014 12:00 am

I have been using clap for over three months and it has made me more tired than before. I had trouble with ff masks for three weeks. I still take mask off every night. I taped one mask on so good I broke it and never wake up then later i put it back on. I still wake up somewhere between 2 and 4 hours after I fall asleep. I get 4 to 6 a night and best sleep is when mask is off. Am on 200 mg trazodone which helps sum cause I was in a bad wreck a yr and a half ago. So my question is this as good as it gets??

Please fill out your profile with the exact machine you're using and ALL the settings......pressure, Ramp, humidifier, etc.
At the rate you're going.......I'd say "never" to when it's going to start working for you. You're sabotaging your therapy with the things you're doing.

And, I notice you're using a nasal mask. If you're leaking air out your mouth while you sleep, that's pretty much nullifying whatever therapy you ARE getting.

Unfortunately, until you are using the machine all night, you aren't going to feel much better. You are still getting hours of crappy sleep.

If you can post your machine info and settings, we can help you figure out what is going wrong and how to get your therapy working for you and a lot more comfortable.

Who would have thought it would be this challenging to sleep and breathe at the same time?

Unfortunately, one of the side effects of trazadone is it causes nasal congestion which could be leading to mask discomfort which could be causing you to take it off in spite of your efforts in trying to prevent that from happening. If I am wrong about the Trazadone, you could still be taking off the mask due to discomfort which is what I also did with FF masks until I switched to the cloth mask listed in my profile.

You could also be having a weird reaction to Trazadone. I remember trying it out and took off my mask for no reason at all after two hours. It was really bizarre.

Finally, you might want to play with the humidity to see if that makes a difference. Personally, I find a medium cool setting works the best for me. But everyone is different.

Best of luck.

PS - Agree that you need to fill out your equipment profile.
