Can anyone show me a picture of how the white ultra fine filter installs into the new gray model bipap s/t?
Does it go in front of or behind the reusable foam filter?
Does the soft cottony side or the harder ribbed side touch thee foam filter?
filter install
Re: filter install
The white fine filter goes in first...then the foam filter goes in so it sits facing the outside.
The soft fuzzy part of the white fine filter goes to the outside & touching the foam filter. If you have a name brand filter that has the Respironics log on it then that is the soft fuzzy side and the logo faces outwards and touches the foam filter.
When it doubt think of the physics involved....filters do the filtering by collecting stuff with the soft fuzzy fibers so those fuzzy fibers need to be out front where the air is coming in from.
Some of the aftermarket filters without the Respironics logo on them are difficult to feel the soft fuzzy side but with careful observation and touching ....it can be determined.
The filters with the logo make it easier....but if you couldn't see the logo it's hard to feel the difference.

The white filters always, always goes in first as the larger particles will get trapped in the foam filter, right.
The ribbed side touches the machine to reinforce the filter so it doesn't get sucked into the machine. If the white filter does nit have "Respironics" imprinted on it - it may not fit just right. I insist on "Respironics" (OEM) filters for that reason. My DME said they are the same size filters - I said if they were they would fit.
Remember just go with the flow.
