Hello, I'm new to CPAP therapy and this is my first post...
I had my eye on the SleepWeaver Anew but all the bad reviews kept me away. I had been struggling with the Respironics Wisp and Amara masks for the last few weeks when I eventually succumbed to my intuition and purchased the Anew. Last night was my first with it and after 30 min of adjustments and dry runs, I settled in for the night. Wow! What a difference in comfort — externally. It's so light that during the night I had to reach up and feel for it to make sure it was on.
It would be a perfect mask for me but I'm having a problem with it. Air coming out the elbow and through the inlet shoots into my mouth if it's open, which it tends to do in the middle of the night. I start out sleeping through my nose but midway through the night my mouth goes slack and in shoots the air, drying my mouth and tongue out. It got so dry it took a while to reconstitute it. Has anyone come up with a solution to avert this wind tunnel in your mouth phenomenon with the SleepWeaver Anew?
Thanks!
-Jason

Re: SleepWeaver Anew — 1st night
I don't use the Anew but the advance. I had been an occasional mouth breather and then my dentist suggested a mouth guard for teeth clenching. Nothing to do with mouth breathing but I felt a bit insecure at first with something "loose" in my mouth at night, soon no longer any mouth breathing. You might try a drugstore mouth guard, the smallest you can fit, and see if that helps. Good luck.

Islandwoman, thanks! I'll look into that.

Does the SleepWeaver Anew require periodic replacements of the cushion? I couldn't quite tell from the web site info.
Also, did you use the sizing guide PDF? For some reason, when I was fitted for the Resmed Quattro Air, I ended up with a Large cushion. Then at home, I printed out the PDF sizing guide for kicks, and it seemed I was definitely a Medium. So, any thoughts on getting a good fit with the SleepWeaver?

Yes, I have medicare and have been allowed a mask with headgear every 6 months but just the cloth "pillow" each 3 months between. I used the first one(online purchase) for about 10 months because I could not find a DME that had them. I have never had a large leak but noticed that the older the mask the more the more(still few) leaks. Washing once a week(Mrs. Meyers Clean Day dish soap, Lavender) it seems to tighten the mask. I wet just the cloth part put 2 or 3 drops of inside rub it gently around and rinse under running water keeping the straps dry. It is Dry by bedtime. I have replaced them only every 6 months so far. I really like the soap as it has not much scent and none of the usual chemicals.
