How Often Do You see Your Sleep Doc ?

Post by pratzert » Thu Sep 25, 2014 8:01 am

Hi All.

I just realized it's been 15 months since I last saw my Sleep Doc.

He had said that if all was good for me I didn't have to come back real soon to see him, but I let the time slip by since I have been OK.

But I do believe out of fear of being considered "Out of Compliance" by my Insurance company for not seeing my Sleep Doc at least once a year, that I had better make an appointment to see him ASAP.

I'd like to know how often most of you go to see your Sleep Doc? Every 6 months, once a year ?

I will take my Data card from my S9 Autoset for him to read to see if he spots anything out of the ordinary. He will also have the machine hours on record then for compliance as well.

Thanks !

I haven't seen my "sleep doctor"...(the doctor that wrote the prescription) for 5 years. I have never shown my data to anyone.

I've never been to a sleep doctor. My primary care doctor writes the prescriptions I tell him to...

Did you ever have a titration sleep study or did you come up with your own pressure from using an APAP ?

Mine wants an annual review so that's what I'll do. Once I got the RX their value went downhill (it's for 99 months!).

I have never met my sleep doc. He read the results and sent an Rx to the DME.

Yes... and the sleep center sent my primary doctor the results of the study.

8 years ago I had a study done after insisting that I should have one with my PCP. I had the study, got a machine and never saw a Sleep Dr.

This time round over the past couple months, the new PCP agreed that my 6yro machine should be replaced she referred me to a Sleep dr who I have now seen twice, he scheduled a sleep study and had a follow up with me after that. I have one more visit scheduled and can't really see why I would continue past that. I will just provide status to my PCP who is Cpap aware.

BTW I got the results of the sleep study directly from the sleep study location about a week after the study. I asked and they sent it after I provided them with authorization. no big deal.

I'm one of those naughty people who's their own sleep doc.

fortunately, I give myself a discount at every visit because I'm my favorite patient.

My sleep doctor is my pulmonologist. He also treats my sarcoidosis, and see me every 6 months.

The third (and last) time I saw my "sleep doctor" was June 25th, 2005.
I can't, for the life of me, imagine why I'd need or want to see him again. (three times was plenty)
Everything I need to know is in my Encore Pro and MyEncore reports......and other data documents I've created and collected over the years.

I see mine every 6-9 months BUT my sleep Dr is my neurologist so I him for my MS & Epilepsy, along with a handful of other related issues. Every time I see him he checks my SD card.
