Nose Bleeds

Post by milwaukeemarshall » Thu Sep 04, 2014 2:03 pm

Hello all. I also wanted to find out what remedies people are using to handle nose bleeds. I do run my humidifier and have used the heat on and off but I still get nose bleeds if I get too warm. For instance, when I take a hot shower, my nose bleeds.....when I wash my face with hot water, it bleeds as well. Anyone found help?

Have you ever heard the old joke where the guy goes to the doctor and says "Doc, it hurts when I move my arm like this."......and the doc says "Well, don't move it like that."

If the warm humidified are causes the nose bleeds, turn the humidifier setting DOWN or OFF.
I tried heated humidity for a couple of nights when I first started therapy in 2005 and didn't like it. So, I turned my HH off and have been using "passover" (cool) humidification year round ever since.

You could also try using some Preparation H......put a little on a Q-Tip and smear it around inside your nose (I would suggest getting a "new" tube). That advice was related to me by a nurse once upon a time.

Just a thought, have you had an ENT look at your nose. You might have an area that needs to be cauterized.

Some folks just have very fragile capilaries in their nasal passages. My father-in-law frequently had cauterization done to control spontaneous bleeding. Its a good idea to keep a health log to identify as many circumstances as you can so you can avoid them. Seeing an ENT phyisician for this is a good idea.

yeah, though it probably won't be cheap.

friend of mine had fairly frequent nose bleeds, then one day got one that wouldn't stop till I took him to the urgent care clinic...

protip, walk into there with a mixing bowl full of bloody bandages and blood running down your face, dripping on their counter, and you get seen *REALLY* fast. I let him off out front, pulled into a parking spot, and by the time I got inside, he was *gone*... already in an exam room.

anyway, after they shoved a few tampons up his nose, it finally quit bleeding, and he saw an ENT a couple days later, who shoved a silver nitrate stick up his nose, charged him something ridiculous for a 'surgical procedure", and he hasn't had a nosebleed since.

Veramyst, the corticosteroid, has helped stop my nosebleeds. Best applied after nasal rinsing once a day in the am in my case. One spray each side each day.
