Regarding "The filters are mostly there to protect the machine, not you. Normal people without CPAP breathe unfiltered air all night long, and you breathe it whenever you're not hooked up to CPAP." ....

.... Normal people do not have unfiltered air being blasted down their throats into their lungs at gale force strength all night long. Filters are there to protect us (cpap users) as well, not just the equipment.

once again, I'm forced to dispute this hyperbolic BULLSHIT.

cpaps do NOT 'blast' anything down anybodies throat. and anybody that's ever been in a gale *knows* what a gale force wind is like and cpaps are nothing like that.

cpaps provide a *TINY* amount of pressure (a tiny fraction of ONE PSI) to help hold your airway open, they DO NOT force air down your throat. anybody with even ONE functioning brain cell would know this, because, if they DID force air down your throat, you'd either have to have gills to let it out of your lungs, or you'd EXPLODE like a balloon.

stick a straw into a glass.... blow bubbles, a cpap generates *LESS* pressure than that.

the only air going down your throat and into the lungs is what you breath with your lung power, just like what you do when you're awake.

and, as to the 'gale force' bullshit, the only time the machine blows that much air is when the mask is OFF... as soon as you put your mask on, the machine slows WAY down to maintain that tiny amount of pressure.
