Its kind of hard to get a drink of water with a full face mask on. I guess you use a straw. I also take it off to watch TV or check emails. Just easier for me to take it off. Doesn't take any longer. I don't change strap settings or anything. It has quick clips. I only leave it on if only using the bathroom. To each his own.library lady wrote:So why do you have to take the mask off when you get up in the middle of the night? I leave mine on - all I have to do is pull the connector off the mask, and I'm good to go traipsing around the house. Often in the morning when I do take the mask off, the RemZzz stays right on the mask without any sticky stuff to keep it there. Re: I discovered another mask liner maker!
@DoninOrlando,
Once I go to bed I don't watch TV or check email; neither of those activities is conducive to good sleep, which for most of us cpap users is what we've been lacking. Once in awhile, if I can't sleep, I will get up and read, but to do that I have to take the mask off so I can put my glasses on. That is the one thing I regret about the need for cpap, as I am an avid reader.
I solved the problem of my dry mouth with a double-walled mug I found at Target that has a cover and a straw. For me it was perfect as the connector is directly opposite my mouth. If your mouth is not in line with the connector, then a flexible straw can replace it, but I'd suggest having a cover on the glass because you might have to tip the glass as well as adjusting the straw. Piece of cake! I almost never take the mask off at night, and I've only been doing this since the beginning of February.

Re: I discovered another mask liner maker!
I've gotten 12-14 months useage out of my pad-a-cheek liners before replacing them.
I have 2 liners for my FFM in constant rotation... Each liner gets worn 3-4 days before changing over. regular non-scented hand soap and water in the sink for cleaning & then hang dry awaiting use.
If it wasn't for pad-a-cheek, I'd be floundering in hurricane of leaks!

Library Lady,
As one who is making another attempt to use a Full Face Mask, I thank you for this link. The other liners have not worked for me even though both companies provided great customer service so it is nice to know about this company in case I decide trying another liner is an option.

My experience with them
As I mentioned in a previous post in this thread, I ordered some of the CPAP Comfort Pads on Thursday morning and received them on Saturday morning. I ordered the full-face sample pack, which included one of each of the four sizes plus a coupon for a free set (two liners) of whatever size I needed based on the sample pack. I think this is very generous on the part of the company. I paid $11.95 for the pads and $2.15 postage.
Before making any comments about the pads, I think it would only be fair to mention about my situation to put my comments in context. I currently use the F&P Simplus full-face mask. I switched recently from the ResMed Mirage Quattro full-face mask because the Mirage Quattro was very rough on the bridge of my nose. The Simplus mask is very gentle on the bridge of my nose, as it uses an entirely different approach to going around the bridge of my nose. I tried both the Padacheek and RemZzzs mask liners with both masks, and I prefer the RemZzzs with both. Both masks use sort of an air-inflated cushion around the outside of the cushion to (hopefully) fit the face and provide a seal, and I find the RemZzzs stops all leaks and is really makes the mask soft and comfortable.
The CPAP Comfort Pads (according to the company's website) are spun polyester fabric on closed-cell foam (you can see pictures of it on their website). I measured them to be about 3/16" thick. So they aren't that thin. Their website also says that they will conform to your face after the first night. Now having said all this - I found the spun polyester fabric not nearly as soft and smooth as either the Padacheek or RemZzzs. Maybe that's because it's attached to the foam, I don't know. I didn't attach it to my mask, but put it in place with my mask on, and I found it pretty much eliminated the benefit of the air inflated cushion, especially around the bridge of my nose with the Simplus mask. Where the Simplus is so comfortable with a RemZzzs mask liner, it wasn't with this mask liner because of the thickness of the foam (where the RemZzzs totally followed the shape of the mask). However, if I were still using the Mirage Quattro (where I had problems with the bridge of my nose) I might really like that extra padding - I don't know, and I'm not going back to that mask to see. The other thing about the cutout area of the CPAP Comfort Pads is that the shape it is now would pretty much be the shape it will stay, unlike a fabric only mask liner which can stretch or move. I also found the inside edge of the cut out area not very comfortable, but again, I am used to the comfort of a fabric mask liner, so perhaps I'm a bit spoiled.
So the bottom line - I have not tried them for an entire night or nights, nor am I going to. I am not trying to give these mask liners a negative review, I am just sharing my observations, and I am not interested enough in them to take this any further. To be fair to the company, someone should actually try these for a few nights and report back. If you have not had success with other liners, this one might just work for you. If one of you would like my samples, I'll be glad to send them to you and you can try them out. PM me if you're interested.

Since the advent of the newer masks with an air-inflated lip, my personal experience was that any liner defeats the operation of the those masks, since the air pressure is supposed to be adjusting that lip against each and every minute variation in the contour of the face, and clinging accordingly.

Re: I discovered another mask liner maker!
That is a good observation to make, however, some of us use liners even with these newer air-inflated lip cushions. If I had been able to control my leaks with my Quattro Air and latter the F10, I would not be using liners. My liners adjust right along with the cushion, and in fact briefly stick to the cushion in the morning when I take the mask off.NateS wrote:penguinpoo wrote:F&P Simplus + Karens Pad a check liner = blissful nights sleep

Re: I discovered another mask liner maker!
In theory I would think that the mask directly on my skin would make a better seal than a fabric mask liner would, but in reality I find a mask liner gives me a better seal, is sooo much more comfortable, and at least for my face/mask doesn't interfere with the air cushion action at all. But as we all know with everything cpap, it is all so individual.

Kind of "spendy", considering Karen's liners can be used for months.
I would like to get one of Karen's liners for my husband's F10 FFM but I don't see it listed in the sizing chart. Does one of hers fit the F10?

Re: I discovered another mask liner maker!
Nate,
I tend to agree with your basic theory... but my facial oils combined with contact with the silcone cushion become a slip and slide / breeding ground for leaks for me.
The liners keep that issue to an absolute mininum and stop my leaks.

Re: I discovered another mask liner maker!
@Taz, the best thing to do is contact Karen at Pad-A-Cheek; the F10 is a very new mask, and she may not yet have a liner for that one. I don't know how quickly she is able to design and produce them for a new mask design, so she's the one to ask. There is a "contact us" link on the website.

Check with Karen at Pad a cheek but I think that the Quattro Air liner should work since the F10 is using the Quattro Air cushion.Taz wrote: I would like to get one of Karen's liners for my husband's F10 FFM but I don't see it listed in the sizing chart. Does one of hers fit the F10?
