Sounds pretty crappy. When my sleep doc started me on Lunesta he forwarned me about the possibility of a really bad taste, and that was the first thing he asked about during the followup. I've never tasted anything. Just goes to show how differently people respond to some of these meds.

Regarding the melatonin, have you missed a dose before? Once your body is acclimated to melatonin can it produce withdrawal symptoms?

I'm not familiar with ratadine. Are you saying that you add it to your NSAID/Aleve doses to prevent the heartburn?

That would be 'ranitidine' (Zantac).
