EncorePro listed on Ebay

Post by Sleepy-in-AL » Sat Jun 17, 2006 3:48 pm

I wound up with an extra copy of EncorePro version 1.6i with the smart card reader. I have it listed on ebay if anyone is interested.

Thanks!

Several people have posted that they are having issues with 1.6i (1.6.22), but I am running it with MyEncore 1.5b7 without problems and so are lots of other people. I'm not sure exactly what problems they are having.

Good luck in your ebay auction.

Just for curiosity sake to try to figure out why you had no trouble and others are, can you tell us about your computer and downloads?

Did you use the card reader driver from the CD?

Are you using Windows XP or what?

Basically, did you have any tricky problems that you had to resolve?

Computer as with Sleep apnea, too many variables, you just have to keep working on your problems until they resolve. There's no magic formula, Just following the rules of logic, and sequience, and coffee. If the the software was mature, they would have made a installer for it to install the program and reader directly out of the box, but instead it's kind of a work in progress project. Jim

The computer is a Dell Dimension 3000, just your basic P4.
OS is Windows XP.

I believe that I installed the smart card drivers from the EncorePro install CD, not the smart card driver CD but I don't think these drivers have anything to do with MyEncore just EncorePro. I then installed EncorePro. I'm not sure exactly how I answered the questions during the install. However, I know that I DID set a password on the database and I believe that I took the default to allow Windows based database security (not sure exactly how that was worded). But the details are a little fuzzy there. I'll see if I can get it to install on another machine and post the exact steps.

I downloaded MyEncore 1.5b7 from http://lewiston.mit.edu/myencore/myencore15b7.msi

There was nothing tricky to the installation. So I'm not sure whats going on for those with problems.

OK, see viewtopic.php?t=10149 for the full details on installation.
