My sleep ct. was a hospital, very quiet, rooms/layout similar, bathroom, (shower But the techie was great. No, don't show the wires, no one would go. I even could bring food, books, own med's even my c/d tape. Which after I was wired up, I couldnt use anyhow as the techie could hear the voice on the tape over my breathing. But at promptly 5:30 AM you were UP AND OUT. Those wires sure come off a heck of alot faster than the crap you get going in. My only problem was no SHARPS container in the room, so for insulin toss-outs, I had to wander the halls in search of a container for same. Not a big thing, but being a hospital setting, you'dve ''thunk'' they would think of little things like that. But you're not there long enuf. So cost wise and disposal could be an issue I guess. My outside was in Morristown NJ, which is one hell of a far cry for appearance than this place, hahhhhhhhhhhh

"Test results said I had trouble sleeping through much of the test. Well, duhhh!! What do they expect. Let's strap them up once and see how THEY sleep! "

Isn't that the truth? My exact thoughts during my sleep test.... thanks for verbalizing it for me Linda!

As for my room.... it was kinda cozy and had an adjoining room to it too. I was hoping for Prince CHarming to be next door... but that never happened! I had to wake up some time....

And yes, I was warned about the Camera and the talking, etc.... My Tech did allow me to watch TV until I was good and ready to fall asleep... Glad my Tech wasn't so hard on me... I think I was harder on her than she was on me....

I am clousterphobic and when she gave me the full mask, boy... Look out! I wound up throwing it across the room almost! I could sleep with that thing attached to my face! The nasal pillows are the only mask I can seem to handle!
Laughter never killed anyone..... Go ahead, laugh! It's good for you!! ;-)

Did you have the big rubbery bands around your chest and stomach? If it had only been electrodes to the head, I might not have minded.

Sheesh! Glad my test was a half and half, all in one night.

Linda
Linda,

Yes, I had the band around my body although I felt the velcro loosen up during the night and I never mentioned it.

Definately used the shower before leaving, just in case I stopped on the way home.

Video camera was in a box on the ceiling and I really didn't think about it being there.

What's more interesting is that I have a friend, who I rarely see, in charge of a respiratory clinic at another hospital and when I finally called him with some questions about equipment and suppliers he was surprised the clinic I went to was so poorly set up. He did mention though that the techies prefer lights out by 11P cuz at a certain time in the morning, you're being kicked out regardless of the time you actually sleep.

I'll summarize my first night in the sleep study lab.
1. Very nice room (all the perks)
2. Got wired up........had to Pee
3. Went to bed........had to pee
4. Couldn't go to sleep because...........you guessed it !!!
5. didn't sleep one minute !!.......... Maybe the "Urine Chip" in my brain sensed something bad was getting ready to happen.
(of course being a 50 year old male probably didn't have anything to do with it.
6. The "tech' almost got angry because I didn't sleep. As she was removing the "hardware from my body...she questioned me........"Why didn't you sleep?" I ended the conversation with one comment...........Have you ever done this ???? she quietly said no
7. Came back in 2 days....got a sleeping pill and completed the study.
Results >>>>>>>>>> Severe OSA 278 events per hour NO REM sleep
