It would be nice to be able to go back to voting FOR a candidate rather than a political party. On the other hand, I really didn't have anyone I was voting FOR since JFK and Gerald Ford. Well, I DID vote for Bill Clinton the second term but he had one character flaw that really, really disgusted me. So I'm not really sure if I was voting FOR him or AGAINST his opponent! (And at the moment, I can't even remember WHO his Republican opponent was!!!! )
I had always liked John McCain as a Senator and was VERY DISAPPOINTED in the tone of his campaign the closer we got to election day. His gracious concession sounded more like the John McCain I had so respected. I wonder if Hillary and John McCain and others got the message that we are tired of the dirty politics and derogatory campaign ads? Sure would be nice if future candidates would stick to the issues instead of the usual mud-slinging.
The one thing you can be completely sure of is that you represent for the clear majority, what just happened in the US. Very well put too
To those of us outside the USA, this has been a resounding victory for the reality that citizens of the US can resist being shackled and can show they are willing to change.
I had bets with people here that Obama would never get elected in the USA I knew - I cited Hilary as electable but Obama not. I have been more than happy to be proven wrong and by such a margin !!! & I am sure I represent the view of many outside the US.
There is a period of goodwill that Obama has to exploit for the betterment of the USA in the world. It is interesting that the US election truly became a world election but for those outside the US it was will power vs an actual vote.
