I got the CPAP and the chinstrap

Post by Guest » Sat Jul 23, 2005 2:17 pm

I have been faithfully wearing the cpap all nite for about 3 weeks and I got the chin strap to keep my mouth shut. I pull the strap Very Tight. My jaws cant move but my lips still open with snoring, dry throat and waking up due to my breathing stopping. I dont want to tape my mouth shut. Any suggestions?

Have you considered the mirage ultra full face mask?

For the dry throat you could possibly try a heated humidifier.

That's what I'd suggest, too. Covers nose and mouth to contain mouth air leaks. Allows breathing through mouth if you get too congested to breathe through the nose.

Another possibility...frequenseeker's "Do it yourself" mouthguard to try to make the tongue prevent mouth air leaks.

On page 3 or thereabouts of the link you can click below, I posted clickable links to a lot of old topics - discussions of trying to stop mouth air leaks and lip puffs, and other ways to try to "train" the tongue to hold a seal on its own.
