I just can't believe the immaturity that several of you are expressing. First of all, Liam wanted me registered, so I gave him that. As stated in my profile, I am a System Engineer. I work for a large telecommunications company. Secondly, the accusation from Mikesus came, because of me living in the same freakin state as this TX Boy, you are calling me a liar stating that I am the same person as him! I was strictly stating what I thought of the face strips. Take what ever you want from my post. I can sorta understand the uncertainty without me being registered, but to throw another punch after me giving you my info, just tells me what an idiot you, Mikesus, really are.
Personally, I was just trying to let all of you know that I did actually call the number and tried the freakin product. Had I know I was going to get all this negative feedback, I would have kept my mouth shut. I just thought that this forum was designed to support each other with any information we can give.... I guess not!
Good Luck to all of you,
Lauri (I'm a woman, not a man!!!! )
I have solutions
Do you understand just how suspicious your post looks? (I'll assume for the moment that you really are what you say you are, which I have to admit, I doubt).
Your posting style is similar to the TX guy's. You say you've been lurking for a long time, but the first thing in EVERYTHING here that gets you worked up enough to post is about a questionable product, just at the time when the person trying to sell that product is on the one side being concilliatory, and on the other managing to slip ever more advertisement-like information into every post.
My comment about you not being registered didn't mean the simple act of registering. Anyone can do that. It's simple and takes all of about 20 seconds. The point is that you're not a known, registered user. You could be anyone. You could be the poster himself. Or perhaps you really aren't he, but you are his sister or mother or wife or girlfriend.
I just find it very unlikely that someone who has been lurking "for several months" would find their very first reason to post to be something that sounds like an advertisement, and has very much the same style as the original advertisements.
But, I agree with Mikesus. If he's really willing to send out samples, he should send some to SWS or Rested Gal or Wader, or to the admins if they're willing to try out the product.
A testimonial from someone we KNOW, someone who has some CREDIBILITY here, that would mean something. A testimonial from someone we've never heard a word from before has no credibility.
(And by the way, for the next time you try to slip in a fake testimonial, some advice: Exclamation points and capital letters ("they WORKED!!") make you sound too hard like you're TRYING to be enthusiastic about the product, rather than like you actually are a legitimate user conveying information).
Liam, who's sure to get some more snide comments about his trying to run the board now.

It's hard to take an ostrich seriously, but here goes....
Liam, I liked your well-thought-out explanation and take on the previous posts.
We, myself included, are all getting a little mad, because we feel the need to keep our forum family free from commercial manipulation and antagonism. Regardless of the truth about the Texas posters, we are protective, not only of the usual forum posters, but of the many sleep apnea sufferers out there who turn to this website for answers and suggestions, many who don't even post comments. We want them all to not take one suggestion as gospel, but to gather as much information and suggestions as possible to allow them to make their own choices. We don't profess to be doctors, academics or marketers -- we want people to get help and to help them the best way we know how. We are open to the medical manufacturers but we caution everyone to broaden their knowledge and see every angle.
Personally, I resent anyone referring to Mikesus as an idiot.
Even if he weren't a friend whom I've met and been communicating, I would resent it. That was totally uncalled for. Mikesus clearly stated that he was being cynical and was skeptical. There is nothing wrong in that. That is not the definition of an idiot.
Mike, if you're listening, just know I feel you're the best gosh darn forum advocate for sleep apnea patients. You've worked hard at bringing that lecture to as many people who would listen. And you provide endless links to people here, to help us learn more about OSA. You are one of the smartest individuals I know. You, my friend, are no idiot.
Linda

Lauri,
I'm staying out of this one but I will say that you are not going to convince anybody here that you are offering good advice if you sign-on and start calling some of the most prolific and respected posters here immature idiots. Also all the freakin this and freakin that doesn't help either.
Assuming you are a legitimate poster, you sure picked a sorry bandwagon to jump onto with the gel skin strips or whatever they are. These have been a suspicious commodity right from the start.

And Lauri,
Before you or anyone considers slamming Wader as well, keep in mind that Wader too is one of the most prolific and respected posters here on this forum.
This said, also keep in mind that while there is often a core group of usual posters here, most every poster here is considered welcome and deserving of respect for their efforts to help others. This is a very giving community, and while we may squabble sometimes, every attempt is made to keep this very much like a family and to be a comfortable and inviting place for sleep apnea suffers from around the world.
Sorry, I probably went beyond my two cents.....
