Minimum pressure too low and causing microarousals?

Post by funnyman26400 » Fri Sep 26, 2025 2:15 am

Started graph when i fell asleep see how normal tidal volume and resting respirations look until 7:15 and then it gets very choppy and seems to coincide with pressure increases you can also see it happen later in the night causing me to wake up to use the bathroom around 9:25am. Sleeping enviroment is totally dark cool and quiet, I sleep alone I'm wondering if 7 is too low of a minimum pressure. Wondering if anyone could chime in as to what is causing these transient spikes in my tidal volume and respirations I am fully asleep during those times

If you would get a free account at SleepHQ.com and post the link in this thread, members could easily zoom in to have a close look at the "event". SleepHQ is easy to use, and any personally identifying information in the link is redacted.

Do you do a double void before going to bed?

BTW, one pinkelpause per night is normal. Many people would be grateful to have this good fortune.

The variability could reflect periods of REM sleep. Hard to know.

I basically agree with LSAT, though you might try some EPR to see whether that helps reduce flow limitations. I would leave your pressure settings right where they are and try EPR of 1 to start with. FLs may or may not affect the quality of your sleep, and EPR may or may not help. So it'd be an experiment.

And if you could do as ChicagoGranny suggests, that would be great.

The volatility you are experiencing at 7:10 and again at 9:25 looks like REM.

The "choppiness" isn't a response to the pressure increase. The pressure increase is a response to REM and is a common characteristic of REM along with reduced patency.

I would consider increasing your minimum pressure so the pressure doesn't have to catch up during REM periods.
