A few years ago, I started using external resources for hosting images. If there was an easy way, I would delete all images of mine that were hosted on cpaptalk.

IT has made some server storage corrections that should help with the attachment storage problem....at least for now.
They are working on a more permanent solution.
So for now.....I think you can post attachments.
Excellent news! Do they consider allowing the moderator and her deputies to delete old attachments? Or is adding more storage their preferred option?
Right now adding more storage is preferred option.
They are considering implementing automatic removal after a set period of time.
Moderator powers don't include access to the attachment storage. Would need administrator powers and I actually don't want them now anyway. I might get in a snit and get myself in trouble.

Ironically, message boards consume almost no server resources and are super-easy to manage.

(For bona fides, I've run a web hosting company as a side gig for over 20 years and moderate a couple of other forums. I'm not talking out my a$$.)
